Insurance required for Thai visiting UK

Post by ahandpatsy »

At last we have got a visa for my gf to visit england soon.

The journey of getting one is a different story (a painful one)

However we just need help with one issue.

We have read that short term (3 months) medical insurance is required.

But even though I have searched on the internet I can't find a company in the UK that would cover her for a vacation.

She or her friends don't know anywhere in HH to ask for a quote.

Does anybody have any ideas and if so any guidance on possible costs.

Best regards and thanks for help as ever.

We used this company a number of years ago for both my wife and me.

AA insurance who are frequently mentioned on this Forum provide this type of insurance - I purchased such last year but had to cancel once Covid took hold and our travel plans were curtailed

Won't any regular travel insurance cover health too? Before my wife had a UK national health number we used to take it out for a month through American Express, think it was AIA, but can't recall for sure. Think most credit cards offer similar.
Have never done it, but think UK banks (if you have an account) also offer worldwide travel cover.
Good luck and hope the lady enjoys Ol' Blighty.

The policy we intended to take out was for 5 months (157 days) and the premium was 13,265 - medical insurance was up to 5m Baht as was life cover and different amounts for other bits of cover, policy was through MSIG
