Just to give closure to this thread, I returned to HHH for my 5 week post op check-up this morning. The operated eye is still 100%. The doc said the wound is completely healed now, and gave me permission to start washing my face again. I didn't have the heart to tell him that his nurses say face washing is fine after 2 weeks, and he was 3 weeks too late.

Unfortunately, my left eye that was marked as 20/20 vision 5 weeks ago only scored a 14 today

Doc said I have 'dry eye' in my right eye, and prescribed some drops.

Hospital is all very quiet at the moment, so probably working at 100% efficiency. Very quick visit. Consultation + 4 months meds cost 452฿. Follow-up appointment in 4 months time.

You're probably rating this op as one of your best decisions. I certainly have. More than 5 years on and haven't wore glasses for any reason in that time. I was told after the operation that my sight will deteriorate slowly over time. No sign of that yet, thankfully.

I was due to have my 2nd cataract op yesterday with Dr Pairat, but it got cancelled by Bkk hospital - for the 2nd time and the reason is alluded to in BB's post above. Post op, the wound takes time to heal. Meaning the risk of contracting covid via the eye is increased, a particular concern at times of increased risk, like now.

Really annoying as I have a cyst on the same eye lid as well, which he was going to deal with at the same time as the cataract. Thankfully, it's a very minor op and he can do that at his surgery, so at least that will be fixed shortly.

I am delighted. However, I only back to where I was pre-cataracts. Glasses for close up stuff - perfect for anything else.

After my operation I have to take drops against dry eyes every day with open end. This seems to be one side effect of the operation.

Yes, you could be right. At least they aren't expensive. Today's 452฿ included 4 months supply of drops.

After my operations, I took drops for at least six weeks afterwards. Could have been more, can't remember exactly.

My initial drops were steroid based, I've finished those today and am on Natear Lubricant Eye Drops for the next 4 months.

Yes, I took drops 'Tear Drops' off and on for quite a while because of 'dry eye'. I guess that's a normal consequence of the op.
