Last Will - lawyer recommendation
Last Will - lawyer recommendation
I want my girlfriend to inherit my car, motorbike and bank account when I die.
Can you recommend a good and cheap lawyer to make my last will so that it is official and registered.

The cheapest way to make your will is using the holographic route. If your will is straightforward and simple then it makes sense. It needs to be in your own hand, dated and signed by you and you don't need witnesses.

There are forms for holographic wills on the internet. After you write your will, have it translated into Thai, otherwise it could be difficult for your girlfriend to inherit your assets.

It doesn't need to be translated. But of course it would make things easier.

I quick one. Our marriage is registered in both Thailand and my home country. No kids in either country on both sides together and prior our marriage. Shouldn't this be straight forward? My wife will inherit everything, so no need for any will, or am I missing something here?

I think there is a pecking order in Thailand, in which the spouse is 4th or 5th in line. The will is essential here if you want to break that order.

I’m not particularly in need of this advice, but I’m intrigued as to who might be in places 1-3 if there are no children involved?

Interesting and a little surprising, although in all cases the spouse will be entitled to at least 50%.

Yes, but that could be 50% less than the OP wants.

It's much simpler to have a simple notarized will, in Thai and English, and avoid all the bureaucratic BS.
Mine says: I (name, passport #) hereby leave all my assets to my wife (name. Thai ID #). This is attached to a certified copy, in English and Thai, of our marriage certificate.
As they say, in boxing, finish the fight, don't leave it up to the f*cking judges.
