It's free for Thais if they have good reason to believe they may be infected or have symptoms. Otherwise they'll be charged, unless the test is positive.
Good clarification.

But makes Dannie's point more valid. Your average Thai ain't going to get tested because they won't want a bill. They'll just wait for their symptoms to pass.... whilst carrying on as normal!

The case in HH went for a test and carried on as normal anyway.

Which makes you think that that is partly the systems fault(as well as hers)

Anyone given a potentially free test(especially if symptomatic) surely must sign up to stay home and isolate until cleared, otherwise big trouble

Or is that the case already and she flouted the rules?

She took the test Saturday morning and got the result the next morning (Sunday) - meanwhile spending the day with friends , and going to Home Pro and Big C and then dinner with friends - bloody marvelous!!!

Thai Universal Coverage Scheme (UCS) provides free COVID-19 testing to every Thai citizen, regardless of their registered healthcare schemes.

Dr. Sakchai Kanjanawatana, Secretary-General of National Health Security Office (NHSO) operating UCS, said that conducting extensive testing was an essential measure that could control the spread of the coronavirus effectively.

"Free COVID-19 testing for everyone is the most important healthcare benefit during the pandemic. It aims to find infectious cases and get them into treatment as soon as possible so we can contain the virus quickly," said Dr. Sakchai.

NHSO also prepares a 1.32-billion-baht budget for providing COVID-19 vaccine to four million people when it becomes available.

But did she break any actual rules by doing so, that's the point(or rather it should be)?

Thanks

More confusion and ambiguity from those in power. The BKK post reports that the interprovincial travel permit is only required for Chonburi, Chanthaburi, Rayong, Samut Sakhon, and Trat.

But now this rather vague edict indicates that it includes Prachuap ...

I guess someone has to try to see if they get asked for documents that are obtained by queuing up at a govt office somewhere with a whole bunch of other people. :banghead:

I haven't read the document thoroughly (because it's inconvenient on a phone) so I'm not going to comment on its contents other than to say that as it's dated the 7th it's probably superceded already.

However, as explained in the news on TV today, documentation is required by those in the 5 most affected provinces if they wish to travel outside their respected areas. Likewise those wishing to go into those provinces will need documentation and therefore other provinces have to designate places of issuance. In the case of PKK that includes local government offices for private travel, but businesses can also designate their own responsible issuers for their own staff, as can government organisations (as I understand from the above document).

Can someone please explain the logic in closing condo swimming pools but not hotel pools?

What's the difference in risk terms?

That's if condo pools even have to close? I was told they did as the wording allegedly said 'all common pools". Again surely this would apply to hotels too?

Anyone know anything?

I was told this said "all common pools" which to me infers that ONLY private residential pools are OK

As far as I know, hotel pools are closed (or should be) together with spa, fitness centre, sauna, steam rooms, etc. Certainly the case at mine in Petchburi, but near border with Prachuap.

I’ve been through three checkpoints in the past few days - the one near Makro in HH unmanned, the second one between Cha Am and Petchaburi, they were stopping the inner lane and testing the driver’s temperature (not sure about passengers), the second lane went through unimpeded, the third checkpoint was on the main highway between Cha Am and Pranburi - lots of officials talking and drinking, but no vehicles being stopped. In other words, it’s a complete farce.

What happened to the woman in Hua Hin that was infected and did she give it to others? Seems unlikely, giving her ramblings, that no one contracted the virus from her.
