I hope that your recommendation on what constitutes a good movie, is better than your recommendation on what should accompany a chilli con carne :neener:

Quick question for fellow forum members. Do any of you have some favourite movies from the 70s 80s. Had a somewhat unsuccessful movie marathon last night (listed below) and thought I might try some older films. Can Google of course but be interested in you guys recommendations.

Melancholia - interesting concept but found it a tad boring. Mega long slow character building. Watched it as I thought it might be a disturbing messed up film like the directors earlier 'antichrist'. Its not. 'Tis different mind.

Escape Room - 5 out of 10. Watchable sinister escape room game movie. If you like Saw and all it's torture porn you may like this

Child's Play (new version) - Crap.

Watched The Invisible Man again - Now this one I highly recommend. Really excellent movie. I'd say it's the best movie of 2020 so far. For me it just about knocks 1917 off it's top spot.

Haunt - Not a totally terrible film. Kids get trapped in a fairground style haunted house. Lots of blood and guts. Alright to stick on if nothing else to watch.

I'd agree in your recommendation for The Invisible Man.
I've just watched 'Escape Room' aka 'Follow Me' and thought it was a very good movie with a twist in the final minutes. Anyone who has taken part in the various escape room games around the world will be especially entertained. My daughter took part in one of the escape rooms in BKK and has been to several more. She's hooked.
I've just watched The Sleepover (2020) which is a family movie and was well impressed and was way over my expectations.

May have been mentioned already but I'll give it a recommend anyway.

Just Mercy

Really good movie this. Quite the tear-jerker too. True story of how a young Harvard law student starts looking at some death row cases. Finds blatant evidence of wrongful convictions. An insight into America's broken justice system.

Watched Parasite again today. If you haven't seen it yet, I urge you to watch it. Well deserving of its Oscar for best picture. An amazing film! 'Tis Korean so make sure you download with subs. Snowpiercer is another really excellent film by the same director Bong Joon-ho. English language but does have some foreign dialogue in parts. Minimal though.

Decided to stick on The Host now from 2006. Again a Bong Joon-ho film. Can't seem to go wrong with this director.

The Host 2006

As expected Bong Joon-ho didn't disappoint. Another great film (despite the somewhat poor cgi). After toxic chemicals are dumped in the Han river a mutated monster starts terrorising the town. This isn't your average creature feature, though. It's got kidnapping, viruses, government conspiracies, American army intervention, protests...

A really good film. I downloaded the below with subtitles. 720p decent picture and small file size. Watched on a 32" not sure how much it will stretch. Probably better quality downloads out there.

For my third and final foreign language film today, I finally got round to watching Pan's Labyrinth 14 years after release.

What. A. Film.

A beautiful, twisted journey down a rabbit hole. If you haven't seen it, watch it. Stick it on now if you can. Just get it watched.

Bodacious!

Early download for the much anticipated Bill and Ted Face the Music is out. It's not your crystal clear 4k or even 1080/720 (gigabyte'ish' compressed downloads are never true copies of these HD's anyway). A very watchable download not cam copy. If u want extra definition you're gonna have to wait a bit. Audio is good. Just started watching it for breakfast. 8)

Be excellent to each other!

^^^

Just realised that this download has been about since the day of cinema release a month n half ago. Maybe it is a cam copy. Noticed some vignetting on the left side of image, too. If it is, camera copies have come a hell of a long way since I last saw one!

The movie is great fun by the way.

Edit again: No way. Can't be a cam copy. Impossible.

Watched a cracking animation yesterday if you're into that. Or have young uns about.

Onward

Two elf brothers try to bring back their dead father with a spell but only get his legs. They must find a magic artifact to try bring his top half back so they can spend time with him before the spell ends.

Really enjoyed it. Quite touching aswell.

P. S

Forget my Bill and Ted download link. There are better downloads available from the usual sources. Great film!

Downloaded from yts.ag a week or so ago. Not watched yet but did check quality which as spot on as usual for yts - still the best source for "quality" downloads IMHO.

I haven't seen any Bill and Ted films, but I've always had the impression I'd rather gouge out my eyes with a spoon... have I been mistaken all these years? (I'm hard to please when it comes to comedies - no sense of humour probably... )

They can be quite fun when in the right mindset - i.e. plenty of alcohol and a temporary lobotomy. It's also been at least 30 years since I've watched one - my opinion could well have changed, although I suspect the need for copious amounts of alcohol will remain.
