I'm sure this must have been mentioned before as this is a BBC series from 2006, but somehow it passed me by.

Life on Mars, 2 series 16 episodes. A police series with a difference... Amazing soundtrack (see title  ). Set in 1973, pre-PACE (no caution, just a Sweeny-style "You're nicked!"), pre PC, lots of boob jokes, Cortinas and fitting up suspects.

(EDIT: Oh yes, and dog shit in the streets! )
(EDIT2: ... and power cuts! - now is the winter of our discontent...)
(EDIT3: ... and party 7's)
This is the way

In which case maybe State of Play also passed you by? Again starring John Simm, but also lots of other emerging talents too

Political thriller, excellent plot and production.

BBC made if I recall correctly

I highly recommend this

I joined mid 70's so i could relate well to most of the characters in LOM. You would walk into the CID office through a fog a fag smoke and curly perms. Detectives??? half of them couldn't detect their own farts.  :duck:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0362192/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_3

State Of Play was indeed excellent and funnily enough Philip Glenister once again plays a DCI.

A new series I'm thoroughly enjoying is Zero Zero Zero.

Storyline
A cocaine shipment makes its way to Europe, starting from the moment a powerful cartel of Italian criminals decides to buy it, to its journeys through Mexico, to its shipment across the Atlantic Ocean.

Available for download but do make sure it has subtitles because it's a mix of English, Spanish and Italian. 4 stars

Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing

After life-changing heart surgeries, good friends Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse embark on a relaxing yet epic journey around Britain, eating great food and attempting to catch some of the nation's iconic fish.

I have zero interest in fishing but the interaction between the pair is at times hilarious. 3 Seasons well worth a looksee.
 :thumb:

Usual suspects for downloading.

British crime dramas.

Morse, and its various reincarnations, is my no. 1, but here are some others worth a look. STRIKE, VERA, FOYLE'S WAR. Do your own research, but I doubt you'll be disappointed with any of them.

Agreed, although I guess you threw Vera in as a subliminal gag.  :duck:

I have to confess I haven't watched Vera, but I've been meaning to. Mainly because I like Brenda Blethyn (we went to the same drama school, but there the acting similarity ends, sadly).

I’ve watched worse police dramas than Vera - might not be everybody’s cup of tea, but it’s ok.

As for Strike, which I really enjoyed, my son told me than a new 4th series has just started - pity I can’t watch it with my defunct VPN!!

I just completed Gangs of London

I personally would not recommend it but I'm sure it would appeal to some who enjoy an oversupply of violence

Funnily enough I always remembered that word from an episode of Columbo where subliminal advertising was used in a cinema. As for fast stream, more like downstream, entered at entry level and departed at entry level   :neener:
