Fair play, I think that's what we'll be looking at doing (especially with news of SA).

Thanks lindosfan :thumb: TBH I think we would also look at delaying until next year. We did have plans for South Africa next year (British Lions Rugby), but I'm told SA is in a very, very bad way and the information they are providing regards to Covid are somewhat far from the truth..... :(
My sister lives in one of the suburbs of Johannesburg and she says it’s dire. You probably wouldn’t be able to get into a hospital if you needed to, but if you did, you probably wouldn’t come out!!

^ there’s little to nothing in the News about Covid in SAF. They must have put a lid on it.

In the beginning there were mass protests against restrictions in South Africa. I remember watching the running street battles with the police/army on the news. At that point I thought it would be the country to watch as an example of what would happen if no restriction were imposed. It then went very quiet.

Soon after, Brazil became my country to watch, and boy, what a mess they've made of it.

I think we're drifting off topic here.

U.K. now ok to travel to Thailand WHO

Post by den123 »

From 4 July, Thailand is exempt from the FCO advice against all non-essential international travel. This is based on the current assessment of COVID-19 risks.

However, the requirement to self-isolate on return to the UK from Thailand remains in place. See guidance on entering or returning to the UK.

The following advice within Thailand remains in place:

The FCO advise against all but essential travel to areas within the provinces on the Thailand-Malaysia border, including:

Pattani
Yala
Narathiwat
Southern Songkhla province. This does not include areas north of and including the A43 road between Hat Yai and Sakom, and areas north-west of and including the train line which runs between Hat Yai and Pedang Besar.

I was under the impression that Thailand still ban "incoming" international flights? If so, what help is this aside from Thais coming to the UK......

Very true, but my flight to Thailand in September has been cancelled - whether that is just a fallout of Thai Airways financial issues or more of a "governmental decision", who knows...

Den,

Please forget all about Thailand this year. You will not be coming here this year unless there's a radical re-think. The government are strictly controlling who can come back, and those who they do let in are being incarcerated in their hotel room for 2 weeks. It will be madness to even attempt to travel to Thailand this year without good reason, and a holiday is not good reason.

Well done den, you're starting to understand

Your scenarios above are exactly what is happening. There may be a recovery, but it won't be anytime soon.
