Flying to/from Thailand (Covid Era)
Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
I said earlier that a friend of mine who's in the UK but has a house in Nongkai was told very recently by the embassy in London not to expect to return before November.
Thai Airways have said that they don't expect to resume normal flights before December. (although they have other problems).

I'm with you on this one oakdale.oakdale160 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 24, 2020 9:54 pm Realistically, when will normal service in and out of Thai resume? Nobody knows, but its unlikely to be any time in 2020, Any other opinions.
I have been forced to return to the U.K. as Thailand won't let me 'home'.
I have had to postpone my wedding originally scheduled for the 1st of August. We have rescheduled to the end of November but now have my doubts on that one.... Trying to persuade her to have it in Sunny Scotland now.

Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
Registration for the London to Bangkok flights in August opens in a few hours. At £689 for economy and £2802 it is easy to see why Thai Airways has gone bust, somewhat shy of what you get for your money on Emirates or others in the region. As usual information is scarce and no instructions on how to register. Three flights and (up to) fifty places for non-Thais. I wonder how many will be trying to get on these flights and what the selection criteria will be.
No doubt all will be revealed throughout the course of the day.

Our flights are also booked for September, so I'm guessing will go the same way. What have they offered you, if anything?lindosfan1 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2020 3:32 pm We have just received an email letting us know my wife's flight on the 30th of september London to Bangkok has been canvcelled. Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
Looking at the registration process I can see problems as you have to enter an ASQ booking and when I made one earlier you needed a flight to book it. I used my earlier ASQ booking which matches the flight so perhaps it will work. Fingers crossed but somewhat pessimistic.

Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
I booked my repatriation flight a while back but the process was
1) Apply through your local embassy for a certificate of entry Back then you had to have a flight booked even though you know it will be cancelled.
2) Receive permission from embassy to book a repat flight (this is not the certificate of entry but it is a good sign)
3) With that permission you can now book a repat flight.

Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
pharvey, nothing offered, my wife has enmailed them asking for it to be transferred to next year. That way she gets it at the original price. She has tried to phone the agent gave up as over 30 waiting. I will let you know when she hears something. Are you direct to Thai airways or have you booked through an agent.

Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
Well, I've just received an Email to say that our flights (booked to fly out on September 18th) are also cancelled..... Zero information, just "Contact your travel agent or Thai".
Not unexpected, but worrying with regards to getting money back.

That is why my wife is saying she would prefer a flight next year, More chance of getting that than asking for a refun. She did book through an agent,
