I never saw one instance of social distancing, quite the opposite.

The ban on alcohol sales were initially enacted differently by individual provincial governors, but government officials today said the authorities in each provinces must act in accordance with the central government’s guidelines.

Unless you have kidney disease or dementia.
I never liked going out and drinking in groups. A glass of wine or beer or single malt at home, listening to music or reading was sufficient. But then, I've always been a social distancer. (New word)
Having worked in bars and clubs for most of my life and observing my fellow humans drinking in public, I had no desire to emulate or join them.
I've been drunk twice and hated it both times. Maybe I'm not suited to this planet. Yes, I'm sure some of you would agree.
At any rate, now our glorious leader can finally legislate morality.

This must be one of the fastest U-turns to date. Only this morning the ban was being confirmed again. But it's on various TV channels, The BKK Post, and more importantly in the Royal Gazette.

I think we'll see queues at Makro come Sunday!

You really don't??

You can buy alcohol from retailers, unless the Prachuab governor decides differently, but you can't drink it in a bar or restaurant. Basically, it's a purchase that you can't consume in public, just at home or private establishement.

Alcohol ban to be lifted Sunday -- with limits
Sales of alcoholic beverages will be allowed again from Sunday but people will only be able to drink at home and not in restaurants when they reopen, the government said on Friday.

The announcement was published in the Royal Gazette as part of the easing of some of the stringent measures imposed in the battle against the coronavirus.

The decision represents an about-face by the government, which said earlier this week that the alcohol ban would remain in effect until May 31 after it renewed the emergency decree for another month. Restaurants will not be allowed to serve alcohol as part of the condition for their reopening from tomorrow. Pubs and other entertainment venues where alcohol is served will stay closed.

Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said allowing the sale of alcohol reflected a "general relaxation" for the whole country.

"But Bangkok and some provinces can extend the ban if they think [lifting it] will do more harm than good," he said.

Of course, we must remember that most of what Anutin reportedly says is bollox, gets denied and is taken down a few days later.
