Dates when no alcohol sold in Hua Hin
Re: Dates when no alcohol sold in Hua Hin
I can see the thinking here. Banned in Prachuab so nip through the tunnel and buy it there!
Re: Dates when no alcohol sold in Hua Hin
Bad translation. There's no "to drink" anywhere in that document.Big Boy wrote:I've put the order through my translator, and there is a bit that says:
Hopefully one of the clever Thai speakers can say if that means what it says, or whether it's a bad translation, or I've read it out of context. To drink all kinds of alcoholic beverages until 30 April 2020.

Thank you - that is why I ask. Especially with everything being circulated by .jpg files, translation for non-Thai literates like me is even harder than usual.

Silly question, but when does this ban start? I thought it was today.
I don't want to drop anybody in it, so won't give location, but I've just driven past a wholesaler who has them queuing out the door. Is he being naughty, or is there a start date (again, my translation only had an end date, which is why I presumed it was immediate)?

They will sell until police shuts them down. In Soi 88 a wholesaler was selling and police arrived and they had to close. This was around 10-11 today. At least in the morning the wholesaler at the bottom of Soi 94 was selling too. But the ban is from today.Big Boy wrote:Silly question, but when does this ban start? I thought it was today.

Another idiotic move by some muppet with a uniform as it will force people to head to the neighboring province now when they would have normally stayed put.

Re: Dates when no alcohol sold in Hua Hin
Gourmet Market have stopped selling alcohol, but alcohol free still on sale. I thought the muppets would stop that as well, but the 0.0 stuff is still for sale (Hite & Heineken, but no Krombacher, maybe they had sold out?).
Talk is cheap
Re: Dates when no alcohol sold in Hua Hin
Not just one muppet in a uniform. These are the provinces with alcohol restrictions before this announcement:
1. Sakon Nakhon, 31 March - 16 April
2. Chiang Mai, 10-20 April
3. Rayong 3 - 15 Apr
4. Buriram 2 - 30 April
5. Mukdahan 6 - 30 April
6. Suphan Buri 4 - 30 April
7. Nakhon Pathom 2 - 30 April
8. Lamphun province, 1 - 30 April
9. Chonburi province, from 6pm
10. Surin, 2 - 30 April
That will have been added to now.

I really really hope some of these muppets are pictured on social media enjoying a Johnny Black Soda with their Mia Noi's

Re: Dates when no alcohol sold in Hua Hin
https://www.sanook.com/news/8076458/Sanook reported that there was a mad rush to buy alcohol in the capital's malls and shops last night.
Staff couldn't replace stock quickly enough as customers in masks stripped the shelves of spirits and beer.
The authorities ordered the ban to stop 'drinks parties' with gatherings. Now for those that didn't stock up they undoubtedly will know someone who has. Result: larger gatherings for parties.

CORONAVIRUS BOOZE BANS SPREAD TO 19 PROVINCES
In an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus, officials in 19 provinces nationwide as of Friday have enacted a ban on the sale of alcohol, purportedly to prevent parties during the upcoming Thai New Year.
Friday is Bangkok’s first dry day until April 20, the beginning of a 10-day ban on the sale of alcohol, and 16 other provinces are facing a similar ban throughout April.
Any “loophole” that involves running to Bangkok borders just to snatch up a crate of booze was closed Friday when Samut Prakan governor Chatchai Utaipan announced a provincial alcohol ban starting Saturday until April 20.
Samut Sakhon also enacted a booze ban starting Friday to April 20.As of press time, Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani have not laid down the hammer yet, but don’t keep your hope up.
Meanwhile, Nakhon Ratchasima residents are buying alcohol by the crate after Governor Wichian Chantaranothai announced an eight-day alcohol ban starting Saturday to April 18, with a stated aim of deterring people from imbibing during Songkran.
“As soon as people heard about the ban, so many customers came in today, buying liquor and beer by the crate. I suppose people are stockpiling them for Songkran,” Passawut Siri-amphankul, manager of Seriwat Alcohol shop in Korat city, said Friday.
Here’s a handy list of how long the alcohol ban will last until across various provinces:
April 16: Sakon Nakhon
April 18: Nakhon Ratchasima
April 20: Bangkok, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, Chiang Mai, Maha Sarakham (booze and cigarette sales allowed during 11am to 2pm)
April 30: Nakhon Pathom (convenience stores only), Lamphun, Phitsanulok, Surin, Buriram, Rayong, Chai Nat, Suphan Buri, Samut Songkhram, Nakhon Phanom (sales allowed from 11am to 2pm and 5pm to 6pm)
No date end date announced yet: Chonburi (sales allowed during 11am to 2pm and 5pm to 6pm), Phetchaburi (only restaurants can sell alcohol)

No mention of Prachuap in that list and you can still buy it in Chumphon.

PANDEMIC BOOZE BAN NOW EFFECTIVE NATIONWIDE
All provinces of Thailand are currently banning the sales of any alcoholic beverages at least the middle of next week to stem the COVID-19 pandemic, said government officials on Sunday.
Bangkok governor Aswin Kwanmuang and the governors of all 76 provinces, who are concurrently in charge of the situation administration at provincial level, have separately ordered the temporary ban on the retail and wholesale trading of alcoholic beverages for the time being, spanning the suspended Songkran festival, which was scheduled on the upcoming Monday to Wednesday, according to the officials of the Ministry of Interior.
The period of time during which the sales of alcoholic beverages are prohibited apparently varies in different provinces, the officials said.
The ban is effective until the end of this month in 27 provinces, including Pattaya, and until April 20 in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and 18 other provinces.
