500+ on death row in Thailand and the last execution was 18 June 2018, but I’m not sure what their crime was.

Who remembers Toby? Murdered by his family for money and I believe his wife, who was sentenced to death for murder, along with two of her family, was out of prison after a few years!

I remember, I knew him. Nobody was sentenced to death, because they confessed. Sentences were long. But as you all know in Thailand they are many amnesties, as new king, crowning of a king, birthday of a king or queen and and and.... So many criminals are out of jail very quickly.

My mistake europtimiste I was under the impression they were sentenced to death for their crime. I’ve lost track of the case over the years, but they should have received the death penalty IMHO, for what was obviously a premeditated murder for money.

No, europtimiste is correct. I think confession saves the death penalty.

The wife got the longest jail term, because she masterminded the crime, the 2 killers, her brother and lover (a cop from Phetchaburi) got lighter sentences. The murder was premeditated, but not for money. She got land, animals and money when they split up. It was revenge, because she lost face as she had to leave the bar and Toby managed the bar with his new girlfriend. According to a lady who visited her in jail short after the crime, she didn't show any remorse.
