Alcohol ban on Hua Hin and Thai beaches?

As the weather has perked up I decided to resume my (almost) daily beach walk today, however, the tide was very high so I couldn't walk towards Takiab so opted for the shorter walk to the Hilton.

Outside the Centara, near the beach exit, are the usual signs saying beware of jellyfish etc. However, behind these signs, propped against the wall and facing the wall, are a couple of signs.
So I had a peek at one of them and it is indeed the one Thaihawk posted a picture of saying no alcohol to be distributed etc.

So no fake news, no porkies, no photoshopping with an imaginary white line

The signs are real but fortunately someone has seen sense and removed them from display/view.

Very unusual here for signs not to be displayed because the carry the wrong meaning/bad grammar. It is part of the character of Thailand. They've erected a corker on the Soi 88 'roundabout' recently. I don't remember the exact wording. If I remember, I'll try to pull a still off my dash cam - up to my eyeballs in white stuff at the moment.

I could imagine that the reason they're not displayed is more to do with some of the "influential people" involved with selling alcohol on the beach!

Not according to Thaihawk:

There was a sign for a day that said no drinking alcohol on the beach. My Thai wife is a teacher and she is doing a special project teaching the police some English. They asked her about this sign. Apparently, they wanted to say no selling alcohol and suggest that people don't drink on the beach. She told them that there isn't any way to suggest not drinking that won't be totally confusing for tourists. They decided to remove the sign and change it.

I was walking the beach a couple of hours ago and I see at least one of these signs has been put up again, in front of the Hilton next to where the beach restaurants would be if it wasn't a Wednesday.

I imagine the beach restaurants are back today and not just selling Pepsi and water.

Maybe the sign is about private consumption, not purchased and drunk at an establishment?

And yes, I guess this is just for Songkran.
