Some years ago, I had been a smoke free zone for five years, but was getting a bit beefy, mainly because I like my beer and food. I went on a rigorous, self-imposed diet that involved zero alcohol and low fat food. Two months (and two stone lighter) into this three month diet, somebody asked me which I missed most - the beer or the food. Neither, I replied, definitely the cigarettes...

Good luck to anyone trying, however you do it, and I hope to join you soon, because, you see, at a slightly dodgy moment in my life, I thought that just one cigarette wouldn't do any harm.

Well said, Parahandy.
My father used to smoke up to 100 cigarettes a day. I'm not joking (where did he get the time from?).
He gave up about 25 years ago and still says that the "little" craving is there after a meal or with the occasional drink.
Maybe one of these days I'll follow the example.

Thanks - your father must have incredible willpower, not to mention a lot more time on his hands!

Have just read this on the Beeb:

Does anybody know anything about Varenicline? I've never heard of it before.
