If you cannot afford a taxi, use the blue bus (appx 130baht e/w) or the mini bus (appx 180-200baht e/w).

You asked this question earlier and you received an answer.
1800-2000 Baht is normal price for a taxi.
If you find that too expensive you can take the normal bus or minibus.
(Minibus is about 180Bt and starts from Victory Monument).
The bus costs about 170Bt. and starts in the southern bus terminal.

Hua Hin is a small town, you will have no problems to find out for yourself earlier asked questions.
Do a little research - this, and similar questions has been answered a lot of times here.

Then why ask the question? Twice? I think you've received very good answers, despite this being on the "On the road" forum, obviously people do read it...

The reason moderators move topics is for the ease of everybody reading & responding. Otherwise, how would you know where to look for specific information?

bronzom,

Have you considered that if they are charging you 50% over the top for a pick up service, could they be charging you too much for everything else? Do you have total confidence in what you're going to get for your money?

If I had any hint that somebody might be trying to rip me off, I'd move my business elsewhere completely rather than being suspicious of every charge they made.

You will get a fare without a problem off the street for between 1800-2200baht most times (bear in mind the new airport is a longer trip than it used to be, so it may now be more)

3000baht charged by your hotel is still not really over the top.

If you every run a business, tell me if you would allow your staff to drive between 250-300kms with an empty car, pick you up at the airport, drive another 250-300kms & deliver you back to the hotel and than not expected to charge a reasonable amount for the service.

The hotel has had to tie up a staff member for most of the day (at least 6hrs), provide a more upmarket mode of transport than a normal taxi, pay for wear and tear on that vehicle, road tax, supply appx 1500-1800 baht worth of petrol for the return trip and you moan about having to stump up 3000baht for the privilige (get a life)

Bearing in mind that there will probably be more than only you in the cab, I cannot believe that people even bother worrying about paying an extra amount of about 500-700 baht for the extra comfort of comfortable air conditionined travel.

I have been on the blue bus the mini bus and by privat taxi, and there is only one mode for me and that is door to door privat taxi.

I have seen those street stalls selling the taxis having tight arse charlie tourists trying to get them down another 100 baht on the price of the trip to the airport, agree a price and then baulk when they are asked to pay a 500baht deposit and just walk off.
The people who walk off are the type people that those businesses do not need.

If you want to do it on the cheap, use the blue bus or the mini bus. Those that don't, let the taxis earn a descent living, just the way that you would expect your cleints to let you do if you ran a business.

In finishing, just remember, even if you did get charged 3000baht for the trip, it is still courtsey to drop the driver a personal tip. It is never forgotten if you ask a favour later on down the track.

Thanks for that.
Are these prices one-way or return ????
As I said I only really need a one-way back to Hua Hin.
I will probably go to bangkok of Friday morning and have a day there
Or even Thursday night

Also what is the situation if you book a taxi for a set time but the flight is delayed
thanks
