late nite life

Post by buksida »

Welcome to the board.
All depends what you're after, you can party until the morning in this town. Unfortunately the government have seriously clamped down on late night opening so all nightclubs close at 2. The Hilton has a kind of monopoly on that in central HH, rumor has it that they have prevented other establishments opening that may be competition to them.

There are a couple of Thai nightclubs a little out of town but they're usually frequented by drunk teenagers who endup fighting each other.

Most bars will do a "lock in" so you can stay in there and continue on your road to oblivion.

bukside has pretty much described how it is, but not every bar in town will offer a 'lock in', it will depend very much on how many other people are inside, and it will also be a fairly quiet place as the music will have to be turned down to ensure the boys in brown don't get attracted. The most guaranteed spot for lively late night drinking is what is known as the 'night bazaar' area, which runs parallel to Naresdamri Road behind all the restaurants/shops to the right of the Hilton (as you face it). You gain access to it either from a set of steps between two of the restaurants just before 7/11 opposite, or from the road leading to the beach by following the sign for Billy's Bar and continuing past Billy's (although if he is open it's a good bar for a late drink sometimes, especially if you fancy some rock music). There are several bars and karaokes along here and it has become the place where people head after 2am, and doesn't seem to be bothered by the police too often, so music is played at reasonable volume too. The only downside here is that there has recently been a couple of 'incidents' where fights have broken out, but I would say that this is the exception not the norm. The only tourist orientated nightclub is the Hilton and this always closes at 2am. Hope that helps.

I actually found a brand new bar in Hua Hin named Nervana. I found it very cool. Completely different from all the other bars in soi Bintabaht, with no bar girls, and with very nice interior. And the drinks were great :P .

Maybe you should try it?

I've seen that place, always empty. Not exactly an "after hours" venue either and the drinks are over priced. :guns:

I don't know how it is in during the week days. I was there on saturday and it was complete packed.

But you are right about the prices. Maybe the drinks are a bit expensive - (like Mai Tai I think), but personally I'd rater pay a little more and not having to listen to "Hallo sexy man" - but that's just me...

I never get a "hello sexy man" .... :(

Guess I've just been here too long ....

It does make me wonder though why bars that do not have girls charge more for their drinks, I mean a beer is a beer, they all get purchased from the same supplier. If anything the beer should be cheaper as there's less to look at in the bar.

The Nervana Bar and restaurant

Post by Barbara »

Six of us (three couples) have just got back from Hua Hin and we all thought the Nervana bar was a great venue especially for people who don't want to go to the girlie bars to get a drink and/or some food. we reserved a table in front of the big screen to watch the football and asked Golf and Jacob (the owners) if they could prepare a seafood selection for us all. Wow!! it was fantastic!!! They also have a pool table and beautifully clean toilets. In fact the whole bar is spotless and the staff wonderful and we didn't think the prices seemed any different from other bars. I can't praise it enough. So thanks to Golf and Jacob, you helped to make our holiday a memorable one.

because they don't have girls for whom punters buy drinks.
they also do not gain any revenue from bar fines.

Sir JK,

Can't agree, as you know bars in Pattaya not featuring women, (Yes there are some :D ), prices are rarely more and in the majority of cases less than the BG bars.

Exceptions like the blues factory and Climax, whilst no carrying such high staff costs, have to cover the cost of the band.

Beer bars everywhere, even those stacked with goodlooking TG's, are usually between 65-85 baht for any amber nectar.

I can think of dozens where the normal price is merely 55 baht.

Guess its the level of competition :D

I visited Nervana a few times and liked the decoration, toilets and general look of the bar. I also like the owners, but i was really p***d when the bill came with VAT added. Its not a lot of money but when i see Tiger Draft for 60baht thats what i expect to pay. I found that to be a really cheap way of overcharging. A couple of the staff were not as innocent as some think also. They were asking the usual questions. I also found that both times i went there some decent music was playing only for a group of thai blokes to change to boom boom crap. At the moment i find Crawfords pleasant for no hassle beers. The new American Rib place over from Burger King is supposed to be ok, will check it out soon.
