Children should not be allowed to operate dangerous machinery or drive. Full stop. There are laws against this in most countries (from what I've read, even here, though not enforced) for one reason - children are not considered mature enough, physically or mentally to operate these machines in a proper way.sargeant wrote: The danish boy will be 16 this week had he been over 16 at the time of the accident he would have faced criminal charges
Blame the A$%#hole renting them without helmets Blame the local Govt for NOT regulating it by all means but blaming the parents and the boy just because he survived is disengenuous to say the least
Just because you choose not to drive does not mean that others shouldnt and all of us start as non drivers
If your logic is to be followed if your 50 yr old m/c taxi driver ploughs into a 14 year old side on having jumped the lights then its the kid at fault
The other kid was 18/19 as far as i can gather with his girlfriend on the back do you think he had gathered such a vastly greater ammount of self control more than the survivor in a paltry 2/3 years
My blame is for the renter for no crash hats and the local authorities for no control
my sympathy
i reserve for the parents BOTH sets and i am sure the young danish boy distraught and inconsolable has been punished enough
If you'll re-read my posts you'll find that I do blame the person that rented out the jetski, most emphatically. I also think the judge was wrong to apportion no blame, particularly to the owner of the jetski. But why should the boy & his parents escape blame? I accept it was an accident. I accept it could have been the man who'd died's fault, just as much. But you cannot deny, if an underage boy had not wanted a thrill, without any thought to danger involved to himself & others, if his parents had said "No, you're too young. Sorry.", if the jetski owner had said "No, too young", there would not have been an accident involving that youngster.
I am not saying no-one should drive. I am saying those that cannot drive should not be in charge of jetskis. If you don't know how to control a car or bike, what makes you think you can control a jetski?
There is such a thing as cause & effect. We should start taking responsibility for our own actions.
And I'm afraid I can't see where in my posts I am being disingenuous (insincere or not candid). I am perfectly sincere & candid in how I feel about these things and children being allowed to use them.
