The chinese would love to get that contract the China> Singa-bore HST is their dream.
Re: RE: Re: Hua Hin dual-track rail routes go to cabinet
Sorry BB, but where is all the dual tracking work already completed? Hhfarang, I would imagine there would be some traffic disruption at rail crossings, but hardly a nightmare. It shouldn't affect Phetchkasem Road at all.Big Boy wrote:Why? They seem to have completed much of the work in central Hua Hin without too much disruption. A quick clarification - Nong Karng village has avoided Google's search engine to date...
Nong Karng is situated 15kms north of Hua Hin and lies between Huai Sai Tai and Hua Sai Nua villages. We are between the P/kasem and the railway line. We have our own 7-Eleven on the P/kasem and our entrance soi has recently been numbered Cha-Am Soi 54.
STOP PRESS: From the Bangkok Post this morning:
"News > General - High-speed train projects face delay"
I haven't bothered to copy in the whole article - you can probably guess what it says...

Re: RE: Re: Hua Hin dual-track rail routes go to cabinet
They've been doing an awful lot of work from the station Northwards (and a little way South). There was a little disruption, but nothing major. Certainly looked like widening work to me, but I'm no expert. If it wasn't widening work, I'd be interested in what it was.hhinner wrote:Sorry BB, but where is all the dual tracking work already completed? Well, if it was widening it doesn't go very far north, certainly not as far as Tan Samai (Soi 56). Preparatory stuff maybe? I thought I read somewhere they were doing maintenance like replacing ballast and sleepers, especially the old wooden sleepers.
Wonder what they'll do at the Chomsin crossing.

Re: Hua Hin dual-track rail routes go to cabinet
I came that way in a tuk tuk this afternoon, and while they seem to have widened the area a little (not sure if it's wide enough for another train), it looks as though the work I had been seeing was tarting up the canal, which runs to the side of the tracks as well. Amazing how much more you can see when you're not concentrating on the road .
It certainly looks as though I may have been adding 2 and 2 and making 5. Still not 100% sure though.

Not just the real estate--- the rail bed has to be relaid with "meticulous consistently" Can this phrase be translated into THAI?

Going past the HH railway station after lunch to day I saw the new train, carriages and bogeys sitting over a long stretch of rail - what an improvement on the previous stock - amazing!

Well - after a couple of years of over use and zero maintenance, it will look like the rest of the rolling stock.PET wrote:Going past the HH railway station after lunch to day I saw the new train, carriages and bogeys sitting over a long stretch of rail - what an improvement on the previous stock - amazing!

Re: Hua Hin dual-track rail routes go to cabinet
I was wondering just how "High Speed" this new line will be. Will it be around 1 Hour or so?
If so, how many stops will it make along the way between BKK and Hua Hin?
At the moment the train stops at these 5 stations before Hua Hin. Will they still stop at them, or will one of these stops be eliminated from any new timetable I wonder.
Bang Sue Junction
Nakhon Pathom
Ratchaburi
Phetchaburi
Cha Am
According to one glossy web site, it mentions 4 stops, but does not name them, so maybe one of the 5 is going to dip out.
Also, if the High Speed station is to be at Bo Fai, it will mean a bit of a shlep to Hua Hin!
My money is on Bang Sue Junction

I though the duel track and high speed were different projects
I wish whenever I've caught a train from Bangkok it only stopped 5 times.

Re: Hua Hin dual-track rail routes go to cabinet
You are probably correct BigBoy
Everything about Thailand that is new, or proposed, tends to confuse me at my age.
I got those 5 stops from the Southern line timetable!
EDIT I forgot last line.

Re: Hua Hin dual-track rail routes go to cabinet
I think the dual track certainly won't be the fastest way to Bangkok from Hua Hin. According to the Bangkok Post:
" There would be 27 stations on the Nakhon Pathom-Hua Hin route and 13 stations on the Hua Hin-Prachuap Khiri Khan. The environmental impact assessment (EIA) reports of the two routes, with the investment... "

You are correct BB. The High Speed project is still being thrashed out with China. The dual track project is a separate issue.Big Boy wrote:I though the duel track and high speed were different projects
