Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand
does anyone know a web site that gives actual data from the previous day. We had a huge storm yesterday at lunchtime and it would be interesting to know how much rain fell

Weather underground does. But it can only show information received. So for HH on 11th July it shows 0 precipitation although there were rain and thunderstorm events recorded.
The Thai meteorological department website also shows historical data but no rainfall figures. Perhaps TMD has no reason gauges?

I like the first image.
So strange that - we were laying on the beach at Cha-Am in beautiful weather, watching that as it unfolded just a little bit South of us.StevePIraq wrote:does anyone know a web site that gives actual data from the previous day. Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand
Massive electrial storm to the north and south of Hua Hin right now. Also over the gulf.
I witnessed five bolts of almost vertical lightening strike the ground in the area of Cha Am in a five minute period.
I was watching from the beach looking north from Khao Takiap.
No rain here yet.

About an hour ago, my wife said it had been raining very hard for the past three hours, with lots of thunder and lightning - we are about 6kms on the HH side from Cha Am.JamesWest wrote:Massive electrial storm to the north and south of Hua Hin right now. Also over the gulf.

Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand
I flew into Bangkok Monday night at about 2300 hours and I believe our flight was the last allowed to land for the next hour due to typhoon like rain and wind. It was really a white knuckle landing with the 777 blowing all over the place. Airport rules even prevented them from unloading baggage as I assume all personnel were ordered inside. About an hour wait for the bags to begin arriving. Strange weather as a few miles away from the airport on the car ride home the motorway and other roads were completely dry.

Heavy rain, in South, East through to Aug 3
Post Publishing PCL.

People in 14 provinces in the South and the East have been told to brace for heavy rain and rough seas from today through to Aug 3.
The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department on Friday issued the forecast on Friday, along with a warning that smallboats in the Andaman and Gulf area should stay ashore.
Provincial branch offices were placed on full alert to react to storm damage including floods and landslides.
Director-general Chatchai Promlert said the southwest monsoon in the Andaman Sea, the South and the upper Gulf of Thailand would bring isolated heavy rain over the East and the Southwest coast between Friday and Wednesday. Waves in the Andaman Sea would be 2-3 metres high.
Fourteen provinces in the two regions were likely to be affected: four provinces in the East - Chon Buri, Rayong, Chantharuri and Trat; and 10 provinces in the South - Prachuap Khiri Khan, Phetchaburi, Surat Thani, Chumphon, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Ranong, Phangnga, Phuket, Krabi and Trang.
Residents of low-lying areas near mountains and canals should be alert for possible danger from downpours and accumulated rain.
The Meteorological Department said tropical depression Mirinae over upper Vietnam had been downgraded to a low pressure zone but would bring more rain to the North and the Northeast of Thailand.
The southwest monsoon across the Andaman Sea, the South and the upper Gulf of Thailand would bring isolated heavy rain in the East and the western South.
Bangkok and vicinity could expect cloud cover with fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain, mostly in the afternoon and evening today, the weather office said.
