Watering Central Reservation = Slipery Roads
Watering Central Reservation = Slipery Roads
My interpretation of what I've just seen on Thai TV news, but I'm fairly sure they are saying motorists should take extra care where central reservations are being watered. They showed a series of what I guess were CCTV clips of people coming off motorcycles, and even showed a truck on it's roof.

Re: Watering Central Reservation = Slipery Roads
Any water on the roads here are lethal.
If you look closely at the road surface in town you will see a shiny glaze. Most car drivers wouldn't really pay much attention - sometimes four wheels can have an advantage. This glaze is a build-up of tyre rubber and oil, etc. from exhausts and is very slippery especially when wet.
My bike will wheel-spin on this surface even when dry. Scary stuff.
I came off my bike North of Petchabun because of road conditions like this (dry weather). Luckily only the bike was scratched and not me.

So it's the passing motorists that have been warned to take care..when it's the water-truck that's creating the road-hazard on a daily basis..No insurance claims against the team doing the watering then, or no plan to be a bit less liberal with the spread of water from the lance..?

Don't they know there's a drought! This stupidity does my brains in, all over Thailand these central reservations are being watered, even in areas where there's a drought declared and water is being shipped in. The sheer stupidity of this Country hurts my brain at times.

Why are there so many haters living in Thailand

This, as far as I am aware is an open forum. As such opinions are not only welcomed but encouraged, as is your opinion.
Having read and been a contributor to this forum for many years I have never, from memory found anyone posting who hated Thailand.
Most of us who have lived elsewhere can see a balance between things that are better here and those things that could be improved..
I will not speak for others but i enjoy my life, family and friends here in Thailand and would not want to live elsewhere. Is Thailand perfect? No. Could things be made better? Yes. And my friend that is the discussion.

Well lets hope you don't suffer the consequences of such waste, as many people already are. The waters in reservoirs around Korat are very low, eatuae wrote:It's their country water as much as they like it's not our country

How observant of you. Of course you are correct, it is not our country, but as others have posted, watering any road after a month without rain is stupid in the extreme, for reasons given by Ginjaninja.
Better to water the failing crops in the NE, don't you think?
Personally, I think the Thais believe, that if they water the flowers, trees and the grass in the central reservations all over the country, the tourists will believe that the country is a green and pleasant land.
They would never think, that those same tourists, can look out of the other window and see what a mess many Thais have made of the place.

I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.
Re: Watering Central Reservation = Slipery Roads
I pass restaurants and shops every day and see the staff 'watering the road'. I have stopped on occasion and pointed out that HH has a massive problem with water and people are being asked to limit their use of water. The response has always been the same. "Plenty water and we have to keep down the dust!"
They just don't get it.

Re: Watering Central Reservation = Slipery Roads
This is a question I've asked previously on the forum, and didn't receive a response. Whilst not doubting there is a water shortage, have restrictions actually been imposed in this area?HHTel wrote:HH has a massive problem with water and people are being asked to limit their use of water.

Re: Watering Central Reservation = Slipery Roads
We pretty much only get the municipal water during the night now. I'm not sure how widespread that is around town as a whole.
Re: Watering Central Reservation = Slipery Roads
As Thailand is expected to face the worst drought in 20 years and that four million rai of paddy fields are expected to be affected, authorities are now urging people to use water economically and possibly using less water in celebrating the Songkran festival.

And still they'll water the roads outside businesses and keep the central reservation looking pretty!
