Anyone have a car I can use locally for a week or so?

Post by dtaai-maai »

You may have seen the photos of our Vigo in another thread. Clearly, I won't be seeing that again...

That leaves me with a major problem, as it will take weeks to sort out compensation with the insurance company, and I have to get to work and go shopping in the meantime.

So, more in hope than expectation, I'm asking if there's anyone out the who has a car they don't need, perhaps one they're waiting to sell, and who'd be willing to let me use it for a week or so, until I can sort out something longer term. The mileage won't be huge as I'm only 10 km from the university. We've already forked out a lot on getting the car recovered, and I can't afford to hire a replacement at 1k+ THB per day, though I'm obviously not expecting to get one completely free!

I'd appreciate it if anyone tempted to be funny could refrain, as I'm nearing the end of an already frayed tether... :D

Have you tried the site sponsor? Their cars are only 800 baht per day and they may give you a low season discount for a week: http://www.huahinmedia.com/huahincarrental.php

Thank you for confirming my suspicion that there is always one complete tosser who can't resist the temptation to wallow in someone else's problems.

You sir, are a twat. Something close to the grime that you pick out from under your toenails, and that stuff that accumulates along your gooch on a hot day.

Well, within a few hours I've been offered the use of a car and a motorcy. Flabbergasted and deeply appreciative of the willingness to help.
What a fantastic forum!

Really happy for you mate. Would have done it myself if I owned a spare car. Glad you got sorted.

I completely agree with the above.
Also great to hear that you have something sorted.

My car is insured,as long as the driver has a license, and not drunk.

I just spent a month in Australia, and some one kindly lent me their car for a month, plus safety seats for both my kids...I thought I would pay their generosity forward.
