See https://www.facebook.com/huahinpolice
I also saw something about it somewhere else but can't remember where now, sorry. In that news article I think there was some mention that riders whose exhausts had been confiscated were offered a discount on a new 'legit' exhaust - more of an amnesty than punishment.
Seems like a real thing.

I read it somewhere last week, probably on TV, just checked and can't find it. I don't think it is just Hua Hin. Can't see the point in confiscating the exhaust.........it's going to make a lot more noise without it lol. If you check the facebook page from the above link you will see that they have been quite busy

But no crackdown on the deafening open exhaust trucks and pick ups

I guess it's better than doing nothing, but there's tens of thousands of these illegally modified motorbikes out there. Most of them seem to be ridden around by teenage Thai 'biker gangs'.

I agree when silencers are illegal they should be prosecuted, same as all laws, but it should apply to all. I hate these fkn big trucks going up to Palu U with an open exhaust

Re: Loud motorbike exhaust crackdown in Hua Hin
It would seem there's a new wave (no, not Honda Wave)..of youths all on these monkey bikes, these kids are young, possibly students, but all these bikes are new ones...who's paying for them?
And yes..they ALL have noisy pipes on 'em, & all know to blast around town after dark 'cos apart from Tuesday evenings (when it's Pear-Mai market) it's almost a cert there's no police about.
Should the MiBs not confiscate the bike as a detterant? Or are these new bikes all funded by the parents..who in turn go to the police-station & flex their financial status muscles...?
As to the topic of the endless trucks barking out loud noise..surely that's down to the corrupt vehicle testers at the testing-stations..?

confiscate the bikes. sell them. donate the money to hospital emergency rooms.
make the kids wear a helmet that has a photo of a buffalo on the front for one year.
