I lived there 10 years and there were always problems there during the wet season... maybe now during all seasons.

it is 2015 and they still can't get it right. sad really all that work they did. not much fun driving over this is a big SUV or truck.
i hope one day the Thai people learn to construct roads properly.

Drove past there earlier. They look as if they've filled in the hole, but no investigation into the cause beforehand.

Sinkholes in other places in the world are usually caused by excessive use of ground water/aquifers causing the land on top to subside, or underground mining operations. I think the former in Hua Hin given all the stories about water shortages and ever increasing demand/usage.

The other side of the road recently has been significantly excavated to put in huge drains (remember the house collapsing into the hole last year - this is within 20 yards of that). I guess they either didn't fill the drain in properly, or the drain has a substantial leak. I'm guessing that they've filled the hole without investigating/fixing the problem i.e. less than a day seems too quick.

this is cause because last year when they originally dug the area out for the pump house it was raining nearly every day ,causing the soil under the road to wash away at least half way under the road ,it was and could not have been refilled under the road , leaving a massive void

hence why its now collapsing ,this is not the first hole to appear the last one they simply filled with concrete

That looks close to Bobby's where I occasionally have brekky. Very worrying.

I have a pick up so I might just avoid that road for a while. Remember the day a pipe was broken and we all stood outside Bobby's watching the action, took a long time to make the place look back to normal but obviously all is not well.

Also noticed the new building opposite Bobby's that had the massive void in front of it before the hole was finally fixed and pump house finished, not so sure that is a safe option for renting/doing business.
