Garage to check Honda Click brakes

Post by Bilbo52 »

I have got a slight squeaking noise coming form my back brake on my Honda Click. Not sure if it is dust in the drum or the disc is worn down. Bike has done 27K km and brakes haven't been changed in that time. (I rent the bike from a mate's wife)

Does anyone know of a good garage that can check the brakes, ie take off and inspect and then replace if required and not at a fraudulent price. Any advice on a good garage and location and expected price would be much appreciated. In advance, thanks very much.

The Honda main dealer on Petchkasem is the best place. Professional job and usually cheaper than the little 'one man' garages.

Where abouts is the dealership exactly, I have seen a couple of places with Honda signage on both sides of the road?

Hey Bilbo52,

I always went to the Honda Shop Garage on Petchkasem Rd. opposite of the Esso Petrol Station. Just after the traffic light (Soi 70 heading north). They always did a great job with fair prices.... Just beware the sign on top of the building says Yamaha.....

Cheers,
B.

No no no. That is the Yamaha main dealer that have a Honda franchise. The Honda dealer is a little further north on the right. Just proved to another Honda owner that the Yamaha dealer was overcharging him to repair his Honda.

Strange.... :? but they only sell Hondas, never saw a Yamaha there. Nevertheless, I've only had good experiences there with my MSX 125 and smaller jobs were even done FOC.

Bought a Yamaha there a couple of years ago when it was solely Yamaha. I'm going by what the Honda main dealer told me. I'll check it out when I'm next there and stand corrected if I'm wrong. Their prices are somewhat higher than the Honda dealer I'm talking about and if they were both owned by Honda then surely the prices would be the same!

I have used that Yamaha dealer for a long time going back to when there was a cinema just across from the shop. Always had reasonable service and prices, sometimes free if it was just a quick adjustment even if the bike was not bought there.

:agree: My son, daughter and son-in-law use that shop regularly. They have never felt over-charged, and as Gregjam states, small fixes are usually free. Always very happy with work done.

And Honda also do quick services for free. Been using them for at least 10 years. Buying a used Honda recently and the charge for transferring at Yamaha was 2,500 and at Honda 1,100. Look at the list prices for new Honda bikes and compare.

Okay. The Yamaha/Honda dealer is a private company and can buy and sell anything they like. More recently that being Honda. The Honda main dealer further north can only sell Honda as it's owned by Honda.
Incidentally, I'm currently buying a Forza from the latter. Out of curiosity I called in 'Yamaha' and showed interest in the Forza and asked for a price. It was no surprise that they quoted 15,000 baht more than Honda!

Having said all that, people will be loyal to the dealer that has shown them good service. Nothing wrong with that. So stick with whoever you're happy with.
