When I lived in Jakarta, a common dodge for tyre repair shops was to put nails through a thin sliver of plywood that would be hidden in empty cigarette packets and thrown into the road in the local area. Another was from those guys who fix motorbike inner tubes at the street side. They would have a drawing pin hidden in the bowl of dirty water used for finding leaks and would then let the air out of parked bike tyres, wait for the customer to come for help and then puncture the inner tube whilst hunting for the leak!
Also there were people who would get children to squeeze up into the engine compartment and replace parts of your electronics with duds so that your car wouldn't start when you came back to it, and then helpfully direct you to the local garage.

I'm just reading that she was fined 3,000 baht for each of her 12 victims, totaling 36,000 Baht, and a year's imprisonment (not sure if the prison sentence is suspended for a year).

A year in prison would be a bit harsh for throwing a few tacks in the road so I hope it's suspended. It's a stupid thing to do but it's not the most heinous crime around.

I don't in any way feel sorry for the lady as she brought it upon herself but as Steve rightly says it's not exactly the most heinous crime that we come across.
On this occasion the Thai justice system would appear to have dished out a punishment to suit the level of the crime.

Anyone get a puncture as a result of this woman's actions?

Post by Bilbo52 »

Found this on another forum http://www.khaosoden...wsid=1424854741 about a woman in Hua Hin who was throwing screws or tacks on the road to puncture car/bike tyres to increase her husband's business at his nearby "garage". Just wondered if anyone had suffered a puncture in this area of town due to this woman's actions? I got a puncture a couple of weeks ago and travel up and down the roads close to the railway station on a daily basis. Apologies if this has been previously covered, I didn't do a search before posting (Cardinal sin I know).
