Ive found the hondas have harder suspension/shocks which is good on bitumen but not so off-road as you'll feel all bumps. The CRV feels like a solid, safer car with heavy doors and such but it seemed a bit thirsty. I have been advised in the past to avoid Mitsu over here as they dont have the best reputation regarding resale value and there was an issue with parts thats why they're cheaper new. I'd have a serious look at the Nissan X trail as they make solid engines but lighter (not less safe either) cars...but the diesel engine makes it more appealing on resale as they last longer.
