This thread has made fascinating reading for me.
I've no intention of working in HH at all and what amazes me is the number of ex-pats who do, especially in running bars.
I'll stay on the drinking side, thanks!
What visa to manage a beach wear shop in Hua Hin?
Re: What visa to manage a beach wear shop in Hua Hin?
I would agree with the fact that you meet a lot of bullshiters in Thailand that talk big and it's a sure thing blah blah.
Nothing is impossible though. I know a bar owner that has a work permit, it's on the wall of his bar along with his mug shot.
He told me there are a couple of bar owners in Hua Hin that have one.
A lot of what has been posted on this thread is good sound advise but just to confuse the open poster even more, in this country where nothing is quite as it seems a lot of this can even be geographical.
Hua Hin is different to any Thai town that I really know as it has some very special residents here full time that's why the rules are en forced more but will still be open to interpretation depending on who the new top cop in town is that month.
Other beach resort area's you would quickly come into the focus of local mafia or locals that have family that are cops so still mafia.
Up north though in my part of Issan it's like a different country although I have not been up there since the junta have been in power. You have Farangs openly running bars, I know one that's a baker and another British lad that works for his girlfriends family delivering refrigerated coffins.
