My apologies if there is already a thread - I did look.
The last time I enquired about opening an account in Hua Hin all I really needed was proof of an address in Thailand and a 60 day visa. I have no doubt things have become somewhat stricter now, so could anyone please advise on current requirements.
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
No need of a sixty days visa. Normal visa is OK. Proof of address can be rental agreement with flat or house.
Easy opening account at Kasikorn bank at Maket village. 5000 Baht is sufficient to open account. Oh you also need a phone number to confirm your account opening.
When you say a "normal visa", what do you actually mean? Normally I would simply get a 30 day visa on entry which last time I inquired was insufficient....... or is that actually an entry stamp and not a visa as such???

Whilst it may have changed in recent years, I opened my. Account at Kasikorn about 8 years ago on a 30 day visa exemption stamp and a hotel address.

For thirty days you get a stamp on your passport which is considered as a visa. And bank employees are very kind especially if you make a deposit on opening your account.
I opened my account at Kasikorn last year with a 30 day visa exemption stamp and my rented villa address. Brought the landlords (i think blue) book, just in case, but they never asked for it.
Had to make a deposit of at least 500 Baht. Also gave them my thai phone number where you immediately receive the account balance when withdrawing.
I opened an account with the Kasikornbank in Pranburi a couple of years ago, i think i showed my blue book an passport, the girl was very helpfull and i came out a in no time with the account and a bank card. Did the internet banking the same day ( need Thia hand phone number ) and have had no problems since.

Passport.... that's it. That's what I used 2 years ago, they might ask for your address but you don't have to prove you live there, phone number is handy. I think Kasikorn is the most falang friendly bank out there, every other bank wanted a work permit from me.

Opened an account last week in the Hua Hin branch of The Bank of Bangkok. Passport, Thai mobile number and address required but no proof of address needed. It took about 10 minutes including a pass book and Visa ATM debit card. You even pick a pin number there and then. 5 days later you get a password code for Internet Banking if you require it. 500Baht minimum to open the account. Really easy and nice girls to deal with that speak perfect English. The Visa ATM card is charged for though at 200Baht.
Yesterday I opened a new account at the Hua Hin branch of Bangkok Bank. I alreaady have accounts with them in Bangkok but still thought I might have a problem opening a new account in Hua Hin. I could not have neen more wrong. I was in and out within 15 minutes with my new account book in hand. As mentioned previously the minimum deposit is 500 Baht. I took my Passport and Work Permit but they had no interest in the WP. They wanted my Thai telephone number and HH address for statements, that was it.
I also requested an ATM Visa card but unfortunately that was not in stock and they asked me to pop back in to collect it in 2 weeks. The cost of the Visa ATM card was 300 Baht. I also took advantage of their SMS alert for account usage and this is charged at 10 Baht per month
They could not have been more helpful

Thanks again for all the responses/info. - certainly sounds a damn site easier opening an account in HH than it has been for the Long Haired General in the UK!!
