Should that have been squad :? or are you referring to some secret weapon for the boat or even a new type of racing altogether??

Sorry, I was thinking 'squad' but 'squid' came out. Gearing up for Loy Krathong here and too many nautical things in mind I guess. :D  Pete

That last photo had me fooled at first - my first look at the Chang Draught pump, I thought it was a trophy - then I realised it was something far more important.

Good photos - thanks.

I've done some pretty damn crazy things in my time, including a charity parachute jump, a flight in a clapped out Hawker Hunter jet and now I've paddled a Dragon Boat

The atmosphere on the water was terrific, the noise just earblasting and the fun - well it was sanuk - very sanuk.

As predicted - we were eliminated after the first race - but we had our opposition worried when we took on a lot of water and they thought that the river would dry out beneath them
:lach:

Superb HOSPITALITY as usual and many thanks to Barry, his wife Nang & their crew for making it a memorable occasion. Not to forget our sponsors, I wont be shopping for T shirts or hats for a while.

The sad news was that our coach's team were just pipped for their title (Held for the last two years) - but knowing him, I think he'l be back next year to regain it.

As indeed I hope we all are there again to take part in a very special day.

There will be a post race team debriefing strategic bbqing boozing meeting at my place Sunday 1.00pm

Try and make it - there is some beer left believe it or not

Nice photos Dave - I liked the sand croc

Thanks again for Barry and everyone included in the whole event and build up for it. A slight dissappointment was our worst paddle session throughout the whole 2 months we've on the river but as one of the crew members said: "We are the fastest farang crew on the river ever to paddle there." The athmosphere was great, the company good and the beer very tasty. Must go for a refill tomorrow to Terry's. Pity there are not photos of Barry's special diving show.

Better let Barry explain it himself. Send me a message tomorrow at about 12.30 to remind about the box and chips.
BTW Lomu, have you found out your way from the jungle. Haven't seen you since you said you wanted to go and live there. The race being over now, you can come back.

BG is quite right - I managed a quite sublime involuntary backward somersault into the Pran River while trying to board the Peacock  - even before we started on the Chang. :?

It was a great day and I'd like to thank everyone who has taken part over the past couple of months - including those who couldn't find the hospitality

Special thanks though to the following:
Dawn of HHDRC for the virtually endless supply of delicious garlic bread (plus chilli and kebabs)

My wife Nang, especially, for putting up with us all for so long and being prepared to cook every Sunday without even knowing how many would turn up

And to Chief Mate Terry for his organisational help and sharing of ideas.

Thanks also to the sponsors, of course, who made life easier for us in the week running up to the event.

Can't wait for the craig to start again next year :thumb: :thumb:

See you all tomorrow for the debriefing session   at Terry's Hua Hin Fishing Park

OK

We will be at Hua Hin Fishing Lodge from 1.00pm onwards

For those who don't know where we are, and can't contact a crew member who does

Take he Pa La U Road. After km mark 7, take the firts right turn (Which is in the crook of a R.H. Bend). Sign post says Ban Wang Bot.
(My Signs are still on order and this IS Thailand!)
After the right turn, proceed 1 km whereupon the tarmac road turns right and the dirt road goes straight on. There is a Wat (Wat Ni Ko) on the left.
Proceed approx 900m on the dirt road following bend left in the road and we are on the left hand side with blue roofs.

Quite possibly me, Barry and Lea (He is a neighbour) will be found drunk in the road outside anyway

BBQ will start around 3.00 - 4.00pm depends whether we catch any fish!

There will be plenty of other grub anyway.

If we manage to finish all the draught Chang, I have a fridge full of Chilled Wine, Leo, Heineken, Chang, Singha, Tiger & soft drinks all at reasonable prices. :thumb:
UBC is up and running so if anyone wants to watch a game later in the evening can do.

Hope to C U there

The season is over now. Great day again yesterday, this time at Hua Hin Fishing Lodge. The place is really nice to relax, lovely scenery and a cool breaze going through it most of the time. My two friends from Bangers really enjoyed the experience as well. Thanks to Terry and his family and staff as well as thanks again to Barry, his family and staff form making this possible. Now, it's time to start planning some other activities until the next season arrives.

Thanks BG - enjoyed all the company.

It is also good to record that we achieved our team objective of finishing the draught Chang before the pump and barrels went back today

As for future planning let's keep this thread running with a few ideas
