Hi Craig, sorry about your disappointment the other night
Just to echo Terry's earlier posting:
The squid fishing hasn't been great the last few days due to fast outgoing tidal currents at night exacerbated by the wind - wash the squid back out with them.
We normally catch anything between 5 - 15 kg on our 4-hour evening
trips, but last Friday we, plus a few hundred small boats who rely on it for their families' livelihoods, came up more or less empty-handed.
Judging by the squid-drying operation close to us, things appear to be improving again though.
If you'd like to try again let me know - we'll take you out on our 70-footer with bar, barbecue and sound system, plus good Thai food just in case.
Our crew of three are also all local experienced squid fishermen.
And we don't catch a decent amount of fish, we'll give you a hefty discount and free food, anyway, and we can party on the boat.

Having a bar and BBQ sounds perfect, the last boat didn't even have a toilet, so you can imagine the scene with 4 guys and 12 bottles of drink later

Just to say that we can provide meals for customers already - if we have notice of party(s) coming.
As a lot of you know, trying to get ANYTHING built on time and with acceptable quality seems to be a real pain in the a*^@e in our adopted home.
Anyway - we have the restaurant area open with seating, a fridge full of beer & wine
and some willing helpers on hand.
The kitchen should be fully finished in a few weeks (Note I haven't given a date
), then we can offer a full service complete with UBC sports on the big screen projector TV to complement the tales of those that have got away!

Went to the Fishing Lodge yesterday with a group of other crazy Finns. Should we call that a Finnvasion? That was a great day and everybody enjoyed it. At the end of the day we smoked the fish that we had caught as I had some alder chips with me. Thanks Terry, that was good fun. BTW I thought hookers were rugby players.
