He had blood on his face, the person who helped cleaning his face did not say too much (afraid ??). He left the island pretending being in danger, this without any proof.

Re: Tourists murdered on Koh Tao
So you're prepared to take the word of one unsupported witness, and claim (without any evidence) that he was pretending to be in danger and ignore DNA evidence. Did this guy sleep with your sister or something?europtimiste wrote:He had blood on his face, the person who helped cleaning his face did not say too much (afraid ??). Mods, is it in breach of T&Cs to call someone a complete idiot?

It may be alien to most of us, but it is possible that the killer and the rapist are not the same perpetrators. I am not going to spell it out here, just think about it.

Here is my opinion for what it's worth.
We will never know. The waters have been muddied (accidentally and deliberately) The bad guy/s will survive. International interest will be pacified by new security measures and it will just become yet another 'beach type' event to dissuade adventurous bag-packers.
So IMO I see no need to pursue the subject. TIT and nowt will change.

The best thing people can do is cancel or put off their visits to such islands until the authorities get their act together. The only way to change anything here is to hurt them where it hurts...the pocket.
Don't go to these islands till they fix these problems. It is obvious these islands are run by mafia families and the real Thai authorities have little sway.
There are plenty of other options than these places.
Don't go!

Money and influence wins over justice here every time. There are many more examples if you think about it... rich kids driving race cars killing van loads of innocent people and getting a slap on the wrist, etc.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

British tourists on Koh Tao in Surat Thani, acting Deputy Police Commissioner General Pol Gen Jakthip Chaijinda said Thursday.
Following the confession, Police Commissioner General Pol Gen Somyos Pumphanmuang rushed to Koh Tao at 5 pm Thursday to get prepared for holding a press conference Friday.
According to a source from the investigation team, the worker was identified as Win, 21. He worked at a bar on Koh Tao.
The source said Win was taken into custody and detained pending DNT test along with two other Myanmar workers - Maw, 23, and Saw, 21.
Maw and Saw were captured on Koh Tao while Win on the mainland of Surat Thani.
Police are waiting for DNT test results to match those found on cigarette but and other evidences at the scene.
Maw told police that he played guitar on the beach and smoked the cigarette but he returned home and knew nothing about the murder.
But Win later admitted that he saw the two tourists having sex so he made the attack with a plan to rape the woman.......
Given all of the other preemptive statements made so far, I will wait for independent DNA test results.

"A Myanmar worker has confessed killing"... was left out of the posted commentary. Do I believe it?....I need time to read and assess more detail in coming days. Keep an eye on Drummond. If anything stinks he'll say so. Pete

A Burmese man has confessed to the murders of British backpackers Hannah Witheridge and David Miller in Thailand, police said.
Mr Miller, 24, from Jersey, died from drowning and a blow to the head, while Miss Witheridge, 23, from Great Yarmouth, died from head wounds on Sairee beach last month.
Their semi-naked bodies were found on a beach on the island of Koh Tao, near where they were staying, in the early hours of September 15.
A bloodstained garden hoe, which is thought to be the murder weapon, was discovered nearby.
"The investigation has advanced considerably," deputy national police chief Lieutenant General Jaktip Chaijinda said.
"Three Burmese workers were detained and we took their DNA for testing. During the investigation one of them admitted to killing the two foreigners," he said.

Re: Tourists murdered on Koh Tao
I am very sceptical that this is not, once more, a confession of convenience. DNA may prove guilt or innocence. But, considering the contamination of the crime scene, the alleged "Island mafias" the tendency of patsies to be conveniently found guilty until proven innocent, the pressure to get a result.......
I hope that the UK authorities, who presumably now have their own DNA samples are asked to verify the findings by taking their own DNA samples from the suspects, if DNA is matched. No chance of course but without verification the results will not be believed by anyone except the most gullible or most willing to put this harrowing story in the solved and forget it file.
Edited for typo

Re: Tourists murdered on Koh Tao
Since beginning they pointed at Burmese workers. As they don't want to loose face, they have their culprits even if scapegoats......
Re: Tourists murdered on Koh Tao
We can't say, but we can speculate. There's been so many stories over the years of people confessing simply for the reason their life is so miserable and worthless (in their estimation apparently), that the money offered to their family if they confess is worth more than their own lives or freedom.
Is this the case here? I don't know, but patterns have a habit of repeating themselves in the system here....especially when the "confessed" seem always to be the Burmese, Cambodians, Lao etc.
Some guilty......some possibly Saints for sacrificing for their loved ones...who's to say.
