Do you think the Sofitel should keep "Flash" as its resident band?

Satchmo Bar Sofitel, to End "Flash" Band's residen

Post by MartinHuaHin »

I was very dissapointed to hear that the management of the Sofitel have decided to end the residency of one of Hua Hin's best bands.

"Flash" have played in the Satchmo Bar and other venues within the Hotel for several years now, and have developed quite a strong local following.

They have a huge repotoire of music and the band includes the wonderful Anna Marie Santos on Flute...

They play/sing everything from Opera, to Rock, pop and of course Jazz. After visting many local bands, I would say these have to one of the best, simply due to the sheer variety of music they perform.

If you haven't been yet, do go and see them before the end of October, they are wonderful and you are assured of a warm welcome.

If any one reading this could influence Sofitel Management to re-consider??!!

They will be sadly missed when they have gone.

Is it a Philippine band, given the name of the flute player? I wonder if this has something to do with the new visa rules/crackdown? Pete

The band played their last evening last Saturday (14th) to a packed and emotional full house. Many long time customers joined in with Carlo singing a few Italian opera pieces and another Swedish ex-pat playing a tribute on his trumpet... "when the saints go marching in.."

What an evening, there was hardly a dry eye in the house and the music was spectacular..... with the impromtu performances of many talented locals joining in.

I can't imagine how the "new" band will follow this act, and the dedicated following that took years to build.

The management of the Sofitel want shooting.... :guns:

It was very sad to note that the new GM (Mr. Reko Kroesan) did not bother to attend this last evening, neither did he thank the Band for all their effort and hard work over the previous two years. A very poor way of treating them me thinks....

I think I speak for everyone who was there, in saying they will be sadly missed in Hua Hin.

Just read the post. Quite disapointing.. stayed at the Sofitel for the first time last July. Loved when they did the performance in the main lobby, What talent. Too bad Sofitel.... you loose. Please let us know if the band ends up somewhere else in HH. Hopefully the following will follow.
