This beach cleaning in Hua Hin, Phuket and maybe elswhere is a good thing, for respect of the law and give a feee way for beach walkers. But this erase another big social and politic problem that this government ! ! has to solve. What about all those people who lost their income ? thats for the owners and what about the stuff ?? This will make a lot of people unhappy and angry against the junta. I let you guess what will follow......

I understand what your saying, but it doesnt take away from the fact that they had no right to be there in the first place....for me, its hard to feel sorry for them.

Wrong. They did have a right to be there. They were all granted a licence to use the plots in front of the Hilton by the Tessabahn many years ago. They pay a very small annual fee/tax. The Tessabahn keep a list of all the owners. I've got a copy of an old list.

Some of them are piled up on the narrow walkway down to the beach at the main entrance - must be hundreds.

I took a walk on the beach to the Hilton today and I couldn't believe my eyes. I went last week and took a photo of the empty beach. Today ALL the umbrellas are back in front of the Hilton only, all overlapping like before keeping the sun out. They haven't rebuilt their huts yet though.

However, it is only illegal vendors they were planning to move and I am surprised they had to move in the first place. They just needed to enforce the original regulations re food pricing etc.

Edit : Now if only they let Richard re open his place I would be a happy chappy.

I never liked the view of ubrellas and sunbeds on the beautifuls beaches in Thailand, but I like the convinience of havingng cool drinks served while reading a book in the shadow of one of those. 8)

Now Pattaya has plans to clean up more than just their beaches before the military move in to do so. Sure?

Couldn't agree with you more, they had no right to be there, they were not paying for the space. I saw a house maybe 50m south of where I live at Baan Sandao and a couple of months ago there were allot of sunloungers outside for rent and umbrellas and I thought to myself, this person spent all this money on their house and someone with no right whatsoever chose to open an illegal sunlounger rental business right at the footsteps going from their house to the beach. Glad to see they are all gone now..

Ok pagey, you say they have the right to be there, is there proof? Show us! What proof are you talking about?

In Phuket's Surin, Patong, Kata and Karon beaches where there was/is encroachment the same as there is here in HH, the powers that be have offered/offering the claimants to prove by way of showing legitimate land title deeds for the said property, so as to make a lawful claim. When the powers that be have found/find the claim to be dodgy in any way shape or form, they have/will be coming down very hard on the fraudulent claim/claimant by way of investigating them for past tax invasion ETC.

The offer of proof has not been used in many of the cases, needless to say.

Show the proof.

Of course there isn't any land title deeds, it's the beach !!

I never said they own the land, they have a licence to trade on the beach.

22 plots in front of the Hilton were allocated on 1st November 1991 by Hua Hin Municipality.

Mr Plum mentioned in one of his posts he had approached the Tessabahn to buy a licence but there is a long waiting list.

If you want proof take a walk to the beach in front of the Hilton, why have they all been allowed back within a week or ask the Tessabahn.

^ Sorry Dude, that ain't proof . . .

Really?? Your "proof" is that have been " allowed back within a week or ask the Tessabahn." ??

The "beach" is owned by the Royal family. ALL the beaches. Everywhere within Thailand. Either in their name or the People of Thailand.

Jeez . . . did you just off the turnip truck?
