3BB Internet Speed

Post by PET »

I have noticed a considerable slow down on my internet with certain web sites since Monday.
I am in Hin Lek Fai area and use 3BB.
I have not had this occur for many years and wonder if other users are also experiencing this?

I said this somewhere else, but are you sure that you are not being affected by the dozens of Windows updates being downloaded at the moment (I received 109 yesterday afternoon alone)

No, it's the same with me for the best part of a week. Often being timed out when I try to access a site.
This is the way

Doubt it has much to do with Microsoft, more likely the junta installing more sophisticated firewalls and web traffic filters to Thai providers.

I'm also on the 10MB package and just done a sped test - result 5.8 download. The performance has been a bit erratic this last week or so, sometimes fine but at other times very temperamental.

I have found, using 3BB that I can get onto the web site as quiick as usual but when I want to enter a another or sub page on that site it takes awhile to connect when it did not do so before?

musungu I guess the reason the website is initially quick is it's getting a lot of data from cache.

I don't know if the problems people have been experiencing might be down to 512K Day after-effects?

Yes, I've had problems and I don't use Microsoft... I use Ubuntu, so it's definitely not the number of Microsoft updates. I'm in the same general Hin Lek Fai area.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Thanks HHF - that makes me feel better towards Microsoft.

Would you agree that it's been troublesome on and off since the cable fire at the end of Soi 94 a couple of months ago? That's why I dumped 3BB - too busy to fix it, and I couldn't risk missing England win the football World Cup :? .

I'm with True now, and although I've noticed a slowing down this week, I still get a lot more oomph out of the cheapest True package than I ever had with 3BB. Even with a slowed system this week, I'm still dropping videos at 1.5 Mbps

I live in the Soi 94 area and using 3BB. I have 13Mb download and 1Mb upload speeds (900 baht/month). I have done a few tests yesterday and this morning and everything seems to be perfectly fine. As a matter of fact it now seems like I get a consistent download speed of more than 15Mb every time, and upload speed of approx. 1.1 Mb. This is testing towards a server in Bangkok which is the most correct way to do. Of course the speed is slightly lower when testing towards servers in Europe.

On a side note I was using my Internet connection to stream Premier League this weekend, and I have to say I was very pleased with the performance. I watched two matches and the quality were near to HD, and it never stopped to buffer the stream!!!! If it continues like this I will be a very happy chap indeed!

I wouldn't say it's been slow, but what's been happening to me for the last 2 or 3 months is frequently getting that message that reads something like "Error address changed while page was loading". Sometimes I have to try reloading several times or even close FireFox and start over to get the page to load.

I also had total outage of internet twice over the last two days for about an hour each.

Edit: I just got the error again right after mentioning it. Here it is.

Yes HHF I get the same coming up with certain web sites, and when I test my speeds eg Download is 8.6 to 11Mbps depending which speed service I use, so no obvious problem there.
