Surely, once the hotel have updated your temporary address, that is the address that will then be held on the system. When you do your 90 day report, aren't they going to say that you haven't informed them of your home address i.e. address on system = Kanchanaburi Hotel - 2,000 Baht please.
In that case, BB, maybe you also have to report when you get back. :? Hope the new immi office has plenty of queueing space.

I've already warned my wife of her responsibilities, as the necessary form is TM.30 Notification Form for House Master, Owner, or the Possessor of The Residence Where Aliens Have Stay,

Hua Hin Immigration is from today enforcing the existing rule that foreigners are required to carry a valid photo ID at all times.
I suspect that there may be a new "broom" in Hua Hin Immigration. In there last week and one officer, all spit and polished, walking around inspecting the place and demanding to know why the queing system was not displaying. All the rest of them bowing and scraping to him.

At a meeting with Hua Hin Immigration and municipality, Thaivisa was informed of the news about the immediate enforcement regarding the requirements for foreigners - both tourists and expats - to carry valid photo ID at all times. Thaivisa has learned that Immigration is likely to enforce this nationwide.

Valid ID's are:
- Thai Drivers Licence
- Passport original
- Copy of passport verified and stamped by Hua Hin Immigration

Penalty:
Failure to carry valid ID as above is 2,000 Baht.

24-hour reporting
Hua Hin Immigration is from today also enforcing the requirements that you and your landlord (condominium owner, house owner etc) must report to Immigration within 24 hours of moving in to a new address. On your arrival card you already reported your place of stay, and if that changes you need to visit Immigration and report your new address. This applies to both tourists and expats.
I read it early this morning but could not find a source other than ThaiVisa, which I thought was taboo to even mention on this forum.

The same thought occurred to me, but I'm all for the sensible sharing of information, so don't knock it! I'd much rather see it here than have to go 'elsewhere'.

So did I....On a previous post I must have wasted several valuable seconds deleting any reference to the unmentionable (by some) source :naughty: :naughty:

Maybe TV is too big to be classified as a competing website. If it is then fine as there are many things I read on there that would be interesting for fellow forum members to read

Well I've just read this on TV

HUA HIN:-- Following yesterday’s news regarding the requirement for foreigners in Thailand to carry ID with them at all times, Thaivisa.com and local Immigration offices have been inundated with messages and comments from foreigners concerned about how they may be affected by this news.

In order to seek fruther clarification about this, Thaivisa.com has today met with Pol.Col. Thanasak Vongluekiat, Superintendent of Prachuap Khirikhan and Phetchaburi Immigration.

Pol.Col. Thanasak confirmed the following:

1. By law, all tourists and expats nationwide are required to carry their original passports with them at all times. There is no exception to this. Failure to carry your original passport may result in a 2,000 THB fine. The reason behind this is that Immigration needs to keep track of overstayers and foreign criminals who may be staying illegally in the country.

2. The information provided at an Immigration meeting yesterday was unclear. The correct information, which has always been the case, is that no other forms of identification are acceptable. This includes any other form of photo ID, such as a Thai/foreign driving license or a photocopy of your passport.

3. Immigration does not provide any kind of ‘stamp’ verification on a photocopy of a passport as announced at the meeting yesterday. Therefore, you are required to keep your original passport with you at all times as per point #1 above..

Well that's all very well, but in order to leave Thailand by the required date I need a visa for India. And the embassy will retain my visa for 6-8 days... :banghead:

We were planning to come back to Thailand, travel around the north, do trips to Myanmar and Laos. But having just researched the requirements for getting a Thai visa in Delhi I think I won't bother - they want guarantors in India (even for non-Indians) and Thailand, bank statements, credit card statements, a "confirmed" itinerary, hotel reservations. Pfftt.

It's clear that Thailand doesn't want tourists, so I'll oblige them. Air Asia fly to Myanmar and Laos from KL, so I really can't be a***d with Thailand any more. I feel sorry for anybody with a tourist related business here.

As we usually go to most places together, my wife keeps mine in her handbag. If I'm going somewhere alone, I put mine in my car glove compartment - the car is never far away.

I never leave home without it. My passport is always in my pocket inside a zip lock bag to protect it from water (mainly sweat  )

The first tourist apprehended and fined or incarcerated should present great publicity for TAT at a time when tourism is at a very low point. Particularly so when such a policy has not been widely promulgated to incoming tourists!

After reading all the posts on this forum, using my own personal experience and thinking about my friends that also live in Thailand I have come to the conclusion that yes, you are the only one that carries their passport on them at all times.

My passport is the most important document I posses, having to get another one because it

1. Was stolen from my pocket
2. Got soaking wet during rainy season and was unusable
3. Was inside my Motorbike when it got stolen
4. Was lost because I was crazy enough to have it on me at all times instead of safe at home inside my locked safe

are the 4 main reasons I don't carry it with me at all times.
