I agree that Nigel Owens was awful. It comes to something when even the New Zealand commentators are criticising decisions that went NZ's way !!
The result stands and maybe it wouldn't have been any different but there is no doubt that he certainly hampered England's cause and thereby helped the All Blacks.

I totally agree with your comment .
After abandoning Capt Doug's bar as no True tv,no Guiness,no draftbeer plus more importantly -no bloody rugby after I had phoned the day before & he'd confirmed all set up my friend & I tried the Oasis bar -no rugby,Aussie bar -shut & he was on a motorbike in the lashing rain poor sod ..we then in desperation hit El Murphys in the red light district -outside was packed to the hilt with genunine rugby folk voicing their comments as only rugby fans do ...so missed the 1st half but enjoyed the second even though it still hurts to lose in the last 2 mins.
For anymember out there El Murphy's is way above any other so called sports bar in Hua Hin & is almost as god for atmosphere as UN Irish pub in Chiang Mai & Lazy Coconut pub in Koh Samui.

Forgot to mention this re the England/NZ match. Are those hologram (or whatever they are) advertisements that dance around the field standard, or just something peculiar at that NZ stadium/TV coverage station? I find it very distracting to see "Steinlager" and "Ford" pop up in the middle of the action all the time  Pete

If you're allowed to have a 2 post whinge about a bar, I think Pete's entitled to ask about something that distracts him from the rugby.

If it's rugby related, I'll bloody ask it on this thread when and if I please. If you don't care to provide an answer simply don't, and go have another drink.

On 6 nations night the outside bar at el- murphs is packed with a knowlegible crowd of rugby fans, you might have to go inside where some people are watching round ball.

NZ 28 - 27 England.

Too exhausted to go into all the ins and outs, but what a game.
England were awesome in the first half and should have been more then 4 points ahead at the break. NZ came out all guns blazing in the 2nd half and England lost their momentum. Farrell a bit unlucky to get sin-binned, and that may have cost us the game.
Having said that, Brown's try looked a bit dodgy to me...

Great last try by England. If NZ are the benchmark (which they are), England have to be there or thereabouts. When's the World Cup...?

That 10 minutes or so before the end of the 1st half simply drained me. England is so close. Pete

I see Oz and France starting now. I thought I read Wales-SAF somewhere? I'll have to check schedules.

Faster, more physical, more clinical …. How did Wales lose??!! :duck:

Absolutely tw@tted....... A few positives from Wales (mainly in the backs), but very few and far in between. Simply could not live with the physicality of the Bokke forwards, and you can’t do much without quality ball. We certainly missed the presence of a couple of front line players, and a couple of others not firing on all cylinders… BUT ultimately SA were a different class. Francois Lowe a standout in the backrow.

One poor side to the match was a lot of the off-the-ball professional fouls by SA – deserving of a yellow card or two….. Certainly would not have changed the result though.

Enjoyed the AB’s vs Beelzibub’s XV, absolutely breathtaking at times. Again, New Zealand just seem to turn it up a notch when they need to, but England are certainly a lot closer to the top of the rankings than Wales are based on recent showings. Congrats certainly deserved…… unfortunately!! :banghead:

^^ :agree: Watched it in a small bar at the west end of soi 80 with a good crowd of knowledgeable enthusiasts (Brits and Kiwis). Got to say the game was riveting and flowed. I get up tight about games dominated by penalties and scrum infringements. This match was good to watch and good result. Draw would have been better though

Duly got up to watch the wendy-ball stuff at 5am. Shouldn't have bothered really.

Got to say something about the haka. Started watching the run up to kick off with a few lasses plying their wares but they knew the big screen was going to be the centre of attention for a spell. I told them to watch the haka before retiring to the bowels of the bar. Scared the shit out of them. (and me for that matter)
