Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand
Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand
It is dry as a bone over here on the east side of the gulf. Strange this year as usually I'm telling about thunderstorms and you in HH are dry. I may plant cactus.

I wouldn't call the rainfalls of the last few days storms. Today's was less than 10 mins, nice refreshing and eliminates the need for watering, but I bet only a cm penetration of the soil.

It's amazing how just a few km's can affect how much rain you get - where I am about 6-7 km's south of Cha Am we got heavy rain for almost an hour and yet in Cha Am itself where my wife's father lives they had no rain.
Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand
Heavy rain has arrived here in the East Gulf.

As reported by Coconuts and NNT: http://bangkok.coconuts.co/2014/06/02/t ... heavy-rain AND http://thainews.prd.go.th/centerweb/new ... 6020010001
Add "wet" to your hot and humid expectations for the coming days and don't forget that umbrella.
Thunderstorms are expected throughout Thailand as monsoons approach from the southwest.
Starting tomorrow, southwesterly winds will prevail over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, bringing rain to nearly all parts of the country, according to the Meteorological Department.
Parts of Bangkok and its vicinity will experience rain showers, with the average temperatures continuing to rise.
Most Southern provinces including Surat Thani, Yala, Phuket and Phatthalung will be hit by rain storms. Strong winds in the Andaman Sea are expected to generate waves up to two meters high.
Thailand’s rainy season didn't really kick off as expected last month, but meteorologists now say it's due as soon as this week, NNT reported.

This does not show much rain coming - plenty of cloud and getting cooler - and their previous forecasts have been reliable.

This morning I noticed that the clouds building up to the west, a lot earlier than usual, however, if true to form the bloody easterly winds will keep them at bay.

NOTHING _ if only, where do these people get such information to forecast such an incorrect prediction?prcscct wrote:As reported by Coconuts and NNT: http://bangkok.coconuts.co/2014/06/02/t ... heavy-rain AND http://thainews.prd.go.th/centerweb/new ... 6020010001

Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand
Well they got the bit about increasing temperatures right - at least it feels that way.
Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand
I reckon today might have been the hottest day of the year so far in HH.
I regularly go by the met office at around 7.15am and see their digital readout of temperature. Almost every day lately it's been 27-28 at that time. This morning it was nudging 31.
On the way back, at around 11.45am it's been 33ish but today 35.7
So, that's why I'm claiming possibly hottest day so far.

Please don't rain! I don't have a car, just a PCX. Not looking forward to the next few months if it is going to be the same as last year with the flooding..blue05 wrote:please rain soon

Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand
Not much talk on this thread about the lovely evenings on even the hottest day. Tonight I was at an open air bar and it was ust delightful., never gave the temp a thought.. Now I at home sitting on the patio with a drink and my tablet. 28c, a gentle soft breeze, just perfect.
Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand
Wet has arrived here in the east in large quantities, with much cooler temp's and winds. It's not a thunderstorm but appears that it's going to be an all day steady type storm. Pete
