I live in Kaeng Krachan and have had several snakes in the yard as well as a large Monitor Lizard. Luckily none have been venomous. About 3 weeks ago we came across a huge python that had unfortunately been run over by a car. I'm guessing it was about 4 meters in length. Maybe more.

While I'm at it, here are two more snakes I came across at home. The green tree snake had climbed the wall via an electrical conduit and was at eye level, the kukri with the blood on his nose had tried to take on a huge toad and when I got close to him he released the toad and took off. I didn't have time to get a photo of the toad in the snakes jaws. And, the final photo is of the huge Monitor lizard that ventured into the yard. These critters can run faster than heck.

I trod on this as I was about to open my house doors this evening not sure what it is but it didn't react much when I trod on it. The missus is in a right panic now though.

The pattern on the back looks very much similar to malayan viper, and the fact that it doesn't go away when approached is pretty much confirming it. Was the head "arrow shaped"?

Yes it was arrow shaped but I didn't get that close after treading on it. Called the security guy who "dealt" with it for me.

He told my girlfriend it was poisonous which is why she was in such a panic. Still feel safer around a snake than I do on the Thai roads though :D

3 things required for safe snake removal:

1. Game wife
2. Quality snake catching tongs
3. A cold beer

My dog killed the snake in the picture yesterday. Didn't know she had it otherwise I would have tried to stop her.
Anyone know it?

Another Malayan Pit Viper in the garden.
Fair play to the snake catchers, arrived within 15 minutes!
If anyone needs the number for them, here it is:

Not in the garden, but too close for comfort! I don't know where or when...just in Thailand somewhere. Septic tanks are meant to have a heavy duty screen where the overflow chute goes into the trench to allow water out, but not allow things in. Appears this house must have some old style set up. In any event, watch your private parts! :alien:  Pete

found this fellow at the back of my house and got the following reply from ThailandSnakes.com :

Maybe the red-necked keelback. You can't see the red neck until it flares a bit. Could be one of the other keelbacks. If the first one - it's deadly. If one of the others, probably harmless. I say probably because it was only recently known that the red-necked was deadly after some prolonged bites.
