When was this real downpour, all I got was 20 mins a light rain, just enough to wet the driveway for a while.

Where I live we got a good 5 cms of much needed rain in an hour, despite the forecast earlier in the day suggesting we would get no rain.

We're back to arid conditions here in Rayong. Sprinklers came out again today. :( Thunder and dark skies here and there but nothing comes of it.

Since my earlier post, it's been raining almost non stop since and not too heavy so the rain can penetrate the soil and grass rather than create huge puddles everywhere.

Yes just soft gentle rain inHH, if it continues for several hours that would be ideal, soaks in rather than running off.

With so many micro climates around this area you can't just generalize Hua Hin weather...up here in Tab Tai district we got battered for about 30 to 40 minutes this afternoon.

Yes, we had about 4cm in an hour or so this afternoon in Hin Lek Fai and my guests this evening came from town and only had a light shower.

You can see this quite clearly on satellite images for the west of the southern Thai peninsula...directly west of Hua Hin as well.

Monsoon may hit Andaman and Nicobar by May 20, may keep its date with Kerala for June 1

This satellite is about 2 hours old from time of this post. Hopefully we'll all get something overnight.

EDIT: As can be seen on the left side of the image, the monsoon is indeed cranking up.
