Eat @ Hua Hin

Post by hhfarang »

We've eaten at Eat @ Hua Hin on Soi 94 several times now since it opened a couple of months ago. In my and my wife's humble opinions this is one of the best restaurants in town at the price point. The dishes are big with middle of the road pricing and the service has been impeccable every time we've been there so far. During this high season it has been so popular during it's first two months that most nights reservations are required to get a seat without waiting or eating at the bar. They have a page of western and Thai appetizers at under 100 baht, a page of salads, soups, pasta, and about 3 pages of European meals as well as an extensive Thai menu with desserts. Drinks are reasonable and with plentiful choices.

We usually have an appetizer, a western meal, a Thai meal, a non alcoholic drink and two alcoholic drinks plus a dessert and the bill comes to around 700 baht for two people, and as I said, come hungry or you'll be taking a doggie bag home with the western meals. They add no tax or service charge to the bill so tip liberally if you get service like we have.

Highly recommended (If you can get a seat). :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

I found it pretty much plain fare myself and I'll probably not call back in.

It did not add to my dining experience when, after I was seated and had ordered, in came three fellows without shirts, zits on their backs, and talking loudly on their phones.

Cheers

The food is very good and as HH says the quantities are on the generous size. However beer prices are a bit high considering they purchase them from the store opposite and they then virtually double to price! They are at least 5 to 10 baht too high but.......

Had a long leisurely late lunch there today and were not disappointed.

I'm not sure where the 'plain fare' comment comes from, but to each his own. Haute cuisine it is not, nor does it pretend to be, nor would I have been there if it was. The zitty backs and cell phones would have put me off too, but it's hardly fair to blame the restaurant. Though I suppose they could have a 'wear a shirt' policy.

Anyway, we had cheesy mussels x2, calamari and shrimp cocktail for starters. The shrimp cocktail was very average but the others were good.

Wienerschnitzel x2, bacon-wrapped pork and baked macaroni with ham and cheese - all very good. The use of a doggy bag made dessert possible. The pancakes were a bit of a challenge. More cake than pan. My crepe with apple and raisin and ice cream was lovely. As was the Irish coffee, though I yearn for the day someone will offer me one with real cream spooned on rather than shaving foam...

A substantial 3-course meal for 4 with drinks and Irish coffees for under 3k baht - everybody happy, everybody full, no complaints, and a doggy bag for later consumption  ; that represents decent value in my book.

A pleasant place to eat, too; covered but open with a pleasant breeze. Clean toilets. (Good chairs, BB). Plenty of parking.

Soi 94, 100 metres past the railway crossing on the left.
This is the way

 I almost tried it this evening, but we were a party of 10, so after the need to book for evenings comments, I thought better of it. I will get there soon. Only thing that worries me is the portion sizes could be too large.

^ There's always that doggie bag. Two meals for the price of one!

Has anyone tried eating at that new Giants BBQ restaurant in the basement of Market Village? I took my family, who live in Cha Am there the other day, it’s all you can eat, the food and service are tops, fresh meats, seafood and veg’s, the prawns are big and you can eat a bucket full if you desired, as a seafood lover this is the deal for me and I will surly re visit there. lt’s actually managed by an English guy, I talked to him and asked if this was a new brand, he told me it’s been around now for maybe 10 years in BKK, 14 restaurants in total there, but mostly popular with Thai folks.

Yeah I've eaten upstairs too.
But the Giants price was 337 with the deal they were doing at the time and value for money, food choice and service, then the basement BBQ will get my custom in future visits

Always find maps like this useful. And as for eat@huahin, it is a nice restaurant, very reasonable prices, good food, good house wine and I don't really care if it is not busy. I was there Tuesday and there were about 6 tables being used. That was around 7-9pm, the food is good and I am surprised it is not more widely used but then again I don't like fighting for a table in any restaurant!

I can confirm the above...Just returned from a late lunch at Eat @.....Deep fried calamari for starter followed by the Jaeger Schnitzel with fried tats washed down with a large Leo. 365 baht.

My first ever visit and certainly not my last.

Even the Menu was clearly labelled in English :naughty: :naughty: :naughty:
