29 Year Old Fortuner ??
Re: 29 Year Old Fortuner ??
The Pajero Sport is the only one of the group to my knowledge that has front and rear coil springs as compared to leaf springs in the back of the rest of them. Makes a big difference in ride. Pete

I am a 99% biker and when I need a car, I will rent one according to the purpose.prcscct wrote:The Pajero Sport is the only one of the group to my knowledge that has front and rear coil springs as compared to leaf springs in the back of the rest of them. Makes a big difference in ride. Pete
The Pajero Sport is certainly much more comfortable than the Fortuner, which IMO is not so bad since I do not need a lot of extras like electric mirrors/seats/etc., and I can cope with less comfort, being a biker who consider cars as big wheelchairs...after a possible motorbike accident !

I agree with you Pete, this is the best of the bunch - but why did Mitsubishi call it the Pajero Sport.prcscct wrote:The Pajero Sport is the only one of the group to my knowledge that has front and rear coil springs as compared to leaf springs in the back of the rest of them. The original Pajero, (Shogun) call it what you will, was / is a great off road all terrain inyaface motor.
I had the pleasure of running one for 18 months in Malaysia, and it never got stuck anywhere. In a totally different league to the Thai 'SUVs'.
HHTel - The Pajero Sport is an honest attempt at breaking the mould - but it's still got the Triton truck chasis. It's not anywhere near an original Pajero in ability.HHTel wrote:I have to disagree. I've driven the Triton ---- load of cr**p. However, the Pajero is a different animal. Petrol engine as opposed to diesel and with cruise control, climate control, electric seats, automatic windscreen wipers plus many more comfort accessories etc etc etc. You can't honestly compare it to a pick-up!Terry wrote:Mitsubishi Triton = Pajero Sport (BTW the name is an insult to the great Pajero)
Anyways - people pays their money and takes their choice.............

I can only speak as I find, but I've had a Pajero Sport for 32 months and it's been no problem at all. It's by no means perfect, but for my needs it's a good compromise of performance, economy, comfort and features (7 seats, auto headlights, auto wipers, DVD player, reversing camera and more). The only real issue I have with it are a lack of some safety features - rear drum brakes, no ABS and no side airbags - hopefully never needed but would be a bit of peace of mind if they were there.

No mention of the Isuzu Mu-X here. It appeRs to break the mould a bit at what cost financially. Seen a few around but not many.

It's only been around a few months, but it appears to be a good alternative to the more established suv's and if I was in the market now, it would certainly be on my short list.Gregjam wrote:No mention of the Isuzu Mu-X here.
