Testing center Cha Am open/closed over New Year?

Post by outbacksteve »

Hi all, Just a quick one.

Got to renew my licences in Cha Am and wondering if anyone knows if the testing center is closed or open during New Year? I heard some banks are/were closed.

Was hoping to get this little job knocked over this week.

I was there renewing my car tax on the 23rd and my partner mentioned that we had to get it done before they started their holidays so I have a feeling that it will be closed but I don't know exactly for what days.

A lot of government departments are closed all week - if you don't get anything more positive and if it's not too far out of your way, you might want to try tomorrow or Friday?

Today is the "6th deadly day of 7..." per our new year traffic count thread, making Thursday the last day. Perhaps things open on Friday, but questionable. Pete

Contrary to what I posted above, all websites I've found listing Thai government holidays only lists today, New Year's day. That could mean all is operational again starting tomorrow. Pete

A friend has told me that Immigration (who I guess would be subject to the same rules) open tomorrow.

Government official I know told me she HAS to be back to work tomorrow so pretty safe to assume most organisations are going back to work tomorrow

Thanks all. I'll take a look tomorrow or if not Fri.

Medical good for another week I think so no problems if they aren't open apart from the waste of a drive. but actually I want to look again for a shooting range a friend told me was on Hua Hin soi 6. Couldn't find it last time.

That may be because it is not on Soi 6, despite what some insist is Soi 6.
Cross over the bridge from the Klong Rd in Soi 6 and immediately turn right into Soi 4.
Follow that Soi that goes past the Wat until there is fork to the right, about 1 km. Turn right and I believe it is signed posted from there.

Thanks mate. Vastly superior directions than I was given before. I don't want to lead this thread off track but heard the price is very good there. In any case I'll check it out when I do the licence run.

I live on the road that leads to the shooting range and my address is soi 6. It is on the right, before you reach The Residence and Stamford. Not too many sign posts.
After you cross the canal, turn right. From there you just follow the road but there are 2 points where you get a choice. Take the right hand option both times. Follow the signs to The Residence but it is before The Residence.

Please yourself what you call it by all means. But the FACT is Soi 6 continues to run to the west after crossing the bridge. If you slow down a bit and look at the sign in front of the new 24 hour shop, it is Soi 4 that is to the right, and the rest of the way is as I have already posted.

Thanks both for the directions.

I went wrong lost time by turning left after the canal.

Something we started doing on another Thailand forum is logging the GPS coordinates on Google maps. Its real easy - Locate the place your looking for, right click and save the 'whats here' coordinates that appear in the search bar or copy the link. Super easy to pin point a spot for someone looking for something. I'll try and do that tomorrow.

Maybe start it on a new thread rather than clog this one up?
