Please note that it is much better to take out the compulsory insurance at the same insurance company you have your voluntary insurance with (1st, 2nd or 3rd class). In case you have an accident and a 3rd party ends up in the hospital, the first 50,000 baht medical costs will be covered by the compulsory (200,000 baht in case of death). If that is not enough, the voluntary insurance kicks in. Needles to say that it complicates things when these are 2 different companies.

Yeh, and he's a joy to drive. Mr.VS says, in the immortal words of Mrs. Slocombe, "I resemble that remark!". Took him out for a little bit of a challenge to Sangkhlaburi the other week. Lots of steep hills and vicious bends - Mr.VS was having a whale of a time and Arfur was put through his paces.

As far as insurance is concerned, we've got two insurance policies on both cars (not expensive). The regulation government one that's pretty basic, and a third party one with another company - just in case we have a coming together with a Benz. Fire or theft, which is what you'd expect from a UK insurance company, isn't included.

Ok job done for a total of 1770 baht. Pick up in 1 week. Just out of interest I couldnt find KS to begin with and checked my GPS - it showed up as KSC garage. Easy then.

They gave my 15 year old Jap car the full check over - underneath, emmisions, brakes, hand brake etc. All monitored by computer. Apparently all ok. Nothing needed apart from blue book and folding stuff.
