The new Venezia Shopping complex
Re: The new Venetia Shopping complex
We rode past there on the way to somewhere else a couple of Sundays ago and the place was really busy. So we decided to go and take a look the next Monday - and there was hardly another person to be found. Seems to be plenty of reasonably priced places to eat, along with the more upmarket offerings. My girlfriend found some cheap shoes in one of the shops that she was very pleased with, but most places were closed.

Any news on when the Villa supermarket will open?
Re: The new Venetia Shopping complex
Went over there one evening earlier in the week and still like a ghost town although a few more shops have opened since. What struck me was my visit was after a downpour and trying to negotiate the streets was a nightmare. I reckon you could have used a gondola up some of them as there were big puddles everywhere. Don't they bother with spirit levels or adequate run offs when building a complex like this. After all they should be able to run the water into the canals. They have spent millions and I guess in the high season they are banking on dry weather. My tip don't go there if it's been raining without wellie boots.

I think that every Thai engineering text and construction manual ought to have the following on the introduction page:Ropes wrote:Don't they bother with spirit levels or adequate run offs when building a complex like this. น้ำไหลลงเขา (Water flows downhill.)
After every significant rainfall there appears an army of Thais with brooms trying to sweep water up into drains. Drives me crazy.

Has anybody been to the new Villa Market and if so, how does it compare with the old one?Dannie Boy wrote:I saw posters yesterday saying it opens 24 October, same day I believe as the Siam bank.dotx wrote:Any news on when the Villa supermarket will open?

I have been to Villa Market at the new Venetia shopping complex a couple of times. I would recommend using the back entrance accessed from the the Palm Hills road. Villa Market is the big building at the back of the complex. Loads of parking and a short walk to the store. More or less the same as the old one but bigger.

Ok thanks, I'll give it a look today, but as I'm passing the front entrance I will try thatbazza wrote:I have been to Villa Market at the new Venetia shopping complex a couple of times. We went to the new Villa Market a couple of days ago. A vast improvement on the original Hua Hin store. You can actually pass people in the aisles with risk of picking up a STD.
I totally agree with earlier comments about using the back entance to the complex. Easy to locate, and totally misses the Petchkasem mayhem.
We spent a couple of hours wandering around. Many photos on the forum's Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 718&type=1

Re: The new Venetia Shopping complex
You might want to amend the directions on Facebook - I think it should read Stanford Uni, not Webster.
This is the way
Re: The new Venetia Shopping complex
Can someone please clarify the directions using this back entrance. According to Google maps the Klong road goes nowhere near Stamford (or Webster) universities. Are you saying this access is from within the Palm Hills development?

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Re: The new Venetia Shopping complex
I drove past Immigration, straight on at the Soi 6 crossroad. Stayed on that road until the University crossroads, where I turned right. Go along that road for a bit, and there's a left into the complex - it is a very easy, traffic free route.hhfarang wrote:Can someone please clarify the directions using this back entrance. Re: The new Venetia Shopping complex
I've never been past immigration on the canal road. Is the "University crossroads" marked with a sign? Thanks!

Re: The new Venetia Shopping complex
No, it's marked with a bloody great school
Seriously, just keep going on the road for a couple of miles. The crossroads is pretty obvious. About a mile before the crossroad, you'll see a smartish (or what could be with a little effort) development with a few water features on the left.
There's never much traffic on that road, so you'll be able to slow down regularly to get your bearings. Just consider it great adventure
