At least you're going over!!

For that I would put up with 20 hours of farang stews.

BTW I heard Thai started last Nov flying nonstop LAX to BKK.

You're right, the previous route stopped in Seoul before Bangkok. I think they started the LA/BKK non stop about the same time they initiated the Bangkok/New York non stop. Pete

Sorry Hans Martin & Migrant, gotta disagree with you on the issue of farang cabin crew (see, how pc I am??  )

I have flown many different airlines, often on Asia to Western countries routes & (as a woman) I have often found the farang cabin crew to be far friendlier, nicer, & warmer than the Asian girls, who are often snotty cows. Australians are particularly friendly & accommodating for some reason :?

To qualify that, I mean on flights that have mixed race crews (Middle Eastern or Western airlines), not Asian airlines, like Thai, where I do find all the crew (in general) helpful & friendly. Maybe guys get treated differently by female cabin crew - don't know about that.

All I can say is, if I'm flying for 14 hrs, I want someone nice, friendly & helpful, who refills my wine glass (or gives me a couple of those little bottles) & doesn't ignore me. I, personally, don't give a damn what he or she looks like - that ain't going to make my flight more comfortable! :thumb:

If you're reasonably well dressed, look like you have money, sitting in business class, under about 45 and reasonably attractive.....a bloke will have several phone numbers by the time he lands. I've been told this is especially true on Singapore Airlines. :D  Pete

Yes, you are right, I guess personally I just enjoy looking at the hostess.

But since I'm being truthful I have to admit better service, whether farang, Asian, or whoever, is best. :D

But what if you can get good servcie & eye-candy (MorF). My wife and I once flew from SFO on Singapore--unbelievable. They cloned the air hostesses and dressed them in silk. We were in coach and they were eveywhere all the time. There was a hand written sign in the galley (coach) that said "Work Swiftly, Work Quietly" and they did. They nailed it!!

We usually fly United as the connections are good (18 hours in trasnit vs 24+ on Singapore). Only once did we have a bad experience. On one leg from Tokyo to BBK we had an all-Japanese crew (M&F). There were beyond snotty --they were plain RUDE!!

Hopefully with the new airport, we will get more options. SFO to BKK, non-stop. Now that would be great even if we all had to fly nude.

The next time you return home, try Finnair. I've only ever used them once, but the service on all 4 planes was incredible. There is a stewardess in the aisle at all times with a bottle of wine, and in between they are serving very generous helpings of the spirits of your choice.

I think this works both ways (excluding British Airways of course)

If you are polite and civil and converse the hostesses will reciprocate
