The entire first season of "Bates Motel" has been on the Universal Channel. I found it to be mildly entertaining. The actor who plays the young Norman is quite good and eerily resembles Anthony Perkins (who played Norman in the original film).

I found it the same as you Ratsima.. I will however give it a go and hopefully watch & enjoy the rest of the series. The problem is that the original was so brilliant, Hitchcock and the wonderful acting of Anthony Perkins, that it's a hard act to follow. There are changes from the original though. The mother is alive in the beginning of this one, so no doubt they have something gruesome in mind for her :naughty: Thought the house and hotel were very good copies :)

The house that was used in the original film is located at the Universal lot in LA. Part of the motel is still there, as well. However, both have been moved from their original locations.

The TV show is filmed in Vancouver. The house and motel were built there using plans for the originals.

I have been working through the Mad Men series available on couch tuner.follow hyperlink posted above by Bristolian :agree: It's an authentic, smartly written look at the Madison Avenue, NY advertising boom of the early 60's through the eyes of an exec who we would all have liked to have been as young men.
The first series is a cracker, The second is equally watchable. Worth a look for its more subtle, vibrant dialogue and the feel of a bygone golden era, which is eerily ever present. I am addicted.

Peaky Blinders

A new BBC series. Intriguing title and a great soundtrack, including Nick Cave and The White Stripes.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01fj945

A dark and violent portrayal of post-WWI Birmingham. Criminal gangs, communists, corrupt police, a Belfast hard-man police chief (Sam Neill - excellent) brought in to clean out the rabble.

Not a lot of laughs, but some very good acting and a very realistic setting (I imagine...).

Downton Abbey - series 4 of my favourite period soap just starting! :D

Serangoon Road looks interesting. I watched the first episode that is airing this week on HBO several times. It looks like it's going to be a good series with an interesting historical background.

"HBO Asia’s first Original series, a ten-episode detective noir series set against the tumultuous backdrop of 1960s Singapore, when the global balance of power is shifting and Singapore is at its crossroad; a time when the British colonial rule is coming to an end, independence is on the horizon, and the island state can finally forge its own identity."
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
