Hua Hin Golf Gossip
Re: Hua Hin Golf Gossip
Thailand's No1 lady and star of the LPGA Pornalung Phatlum is playing. She tees off about 1.15pm.

Since there is no mention of a course I assume this pro event must be a Black Mountain?????
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Ariya is the best lady golfer in Thailand. She is 17 and has almost won twice on LPGA tour this year. Has won on the Ladies European Tour this year. She is not allowed to join the LPGA tour until she is 18. She is probably a future number 1 in the world.

lomuamart wrote:As I'm playing tomorrow and havn't been out for a couple of weeks, I decided a practice was in order this morning.
Arrived at HH driving range around 8.45am and there were hoardings up of pro golfers everywhere on the approach road. Turned into the car park and it was mobbed. There were also quite a few practicing.
Anyway, turns out the the HH Open is on until Sunday (probably includes that day as well) and maybe there were practice rounds on today? The course and driving range were closed to non-competitors. I was asked whether I was taking part which surprised me as I turned up with half a set of clubs in my hand and shoes, gloves etc in a carrier bag!! I don't think so.
My question is does anyone know if it's possible to walk the course and spectate whilst the tournament is on? I might go and watch a bit of that if spectators are allowed.
I got my practice in at Tavimook.
Spectators are allowed and it's free!!!

Re: Hua Hin Golf Gossip
If this Thai girl, Pornalung Phatlum, makes the cut I may well go and follow her for a few holes on Saturday or Sunday. May go anyway as it would make for a decent way to spend a few hours.
Is there a web site where I can find out starting times?

Majestic Creek
I played yesterday and found the course to be in generally poor condition with the greens surface very hard and the ball difficult to control. A member afterwards told me that the condition had been deteriorating over the past 2 weeks, so does anybody know why.
I played Springfield also last week and that was in very good condition, and I shall not bother returning to MC until it improves.
I am surprised nobody else has commented on this situation.

Re: Hua Hin Golf Gossip
We have been putting a lot of sand on the greens in an attempt to get them softer, but the greens are varying from A to B course. B greens are more consistent, and A course has some greens that still need work to improve them.
Also, many areas around the approaches have suffered due to high volumes of rain we had a couple of weeks ago. Some days it rained continually and the areas became very boggy. So now we have a programme to put in "french drains" in all these areas, which is happening now. ( we dig a trench about a foot wide and put a plasic drain pipe in, with many slit holes cut in it, then fill the trench with gravel).
This seems to be working to improve drainage and the areas completed so far have greatly improved, but there are still some to be done.
All buggies must use the 90 degree rule to access the fairways, and this should also help to keep the course undamaged.
The competition we run every week is currently played as " prefered lies " until all this work has been completed.
With the Hua Hin Golf Festival about to commence, we are working hard to get the course into good shape, and we are aware of these problems that need to be sorted quickly.
We appreciate any comments from members or visitors regarding the facility at Majestic Creek and we will endeavour to get the course back to an excellent standard.
