Hi, newbie to the HH Forum from the UK

Post by tapp »

Hi All

First time to this forum as looking at going to Hua Hin next year and get a feel for the place as i have heard that it is a place to visit when in Thailand.

I have been to the usual haunts now, 5 times Phuket, Bangkok and 2 times Pattaya and once to Koh Samui, so i thought i would like a change of scenery. I believe Hua Hin is a relaxing type of place, still with a good variety of bars, restuarants and decent accomadation with reasonable prices.

I like the non pushy type of bars but still like to have a laugh and some fun. I will browse through the threads and get a good idea and a good deal of what Hua Hin is like and gather good info for my jaunt to LOS next year (maybe may, if not sept)

If i come across stuck somewhere i shall give you all a shout for help

Kind Regards

Pat

Welcome to the forum Pat. I think you will definitely find Hua Hin a lot more laid back compared to the previous places you have visited. Have a good look around the forum, and please ask when you are not sure.

I dont know how much time you have but consider a mixed trip. Ex-pats who live here are obviously quite content or they would move but I have met MANY tourists who feel a couple of weeks is great but more than that is very boring. A few days in BKK, a trip up north to Chiang Mai, Kanchanaburi or the Pattaya/Jomtien would add a little fun and color to your trip.

Hi Mike

Thanks for your reply, i have two weeks in Thailand to play with but would like to spread it around to different places. I have seen on forums and spoken to people and they say about 4 days in Hua Hin is about right. I am looking to try Chang Mai + Kanchanaburi as i have never been there and i always use BKK as my final location due to not far from the airport and normally finish off there for the last couple of days as i normally book a flight were i need to get to the airport for 7.00am.
I have been to Pattaya and not really a great lover of the place but i believe it is handy to get to Hua Hin by boat so i might use Patts as a stop gap

Hi JW

I have heard that it is a place that is easier going than the usual places and i like the sound of that. I do play golf now and again but not the greatest, still a 28 handicap. A group of us go away to Tenerife every year playing golf and i do join in, they are always asking what the golf is like in Thailand but i have never played over here, they want to try and get away and play over here, wifes permitting thou :D

Excuse the pun, but I think you'll find the boat to and from Hua Hin is dead in the water. Road or train are your options.
