Actually, you are not far off the mark! It is a cover, but what it covers I am not sure. Maybe the owners special emblem or similar. :thumb:

Still not sure exactly what it is other than a rubber/leather cover for what appears to be to the family crest of the Marharaja of Udaipur as per these two photos, obviously from a different car but same cover.

It was given to them by someone famous (from the U.S.?)? A president?
Or famous for something that happened in it's history in India?

Was it used for parades or something of that nature? I can't imagine Gandhi in a Cadillac, perhaps Nehru?

Not sure if it was a parade, but considering who it was, probably! Not Gandhi or Nehru.

I couldn't find anything about this specific car but found a very interesting clip about the Maharajas car collection
