The car is a Mk1 Zephyr, Zodiac or Consul - difficult to tell the difference from this angle but would plump for either the Zodiac or Zephyr?
As for the lorry it also looks like a Ford, maybe a D series?
Well, yes or no, not maybe!
It is easy to tell the difference between a Zephyr and a Consul from that angle, as the grill and bonnet are completely different. Not so easy to tell the difference between a standard Zephyr and a Zodiac, as the latter is just a Deluxe version of the former.
The truck is definitely a Ford D series.

My guess on the Zephyr or Zodiac was purely from memory rather than using our friend Mr Google, whereas now that I have used the animal, it is indeed quite obvious that its not a Consul.

The photo came off a truck blog, where the owner was claiming bragging rights for his D series truck. All that he mentions about the car is that it is his "race car", or "hot rod" and he uses the truck to take it to races. As can be seen from the wheels, it has been modified, so could have started off as either model.
While this is still fresh, anybody know what was the ultimate mod to the 6 cylinder Zephyr engine? No Goggle please!

An interesting sideline found while cheating on Google:
In 1953, a Ford Zephyr Six driven by Maurice Gatsonides won the Monte Carlo rally, pushing a Jaguar Mark VII into second place in the process. Two years later a Ford Zephyr Six driven by Vic Preston with D P Marwaha won the East African Safari Rally.[5]
Nereus - was the engineer in question British or American?
