which hotel in Hua Hin

Post by mikey »

Please give my some advice as I've never been to Hua Hin before and have no idea which hotel to choose! :?

My wife and I like a bit of comfort, hotel on a good beach with clean sea without too many noisy jet skis. Day time for us is reading, sunbathing and swimmingin the sea and beach bars for lunch. 8)
Evenings, within a maximum 15 minute tuk-tuk/taxi ride lots of bars and restaurants. :P
Had thought about the Hilton but have read that the beach and sea can be a little cleaner and quieter further out of town(?).

I have just joined the forum and hope someone can advise us.

Hi Mikey,

This is alway a difficult one - as what suits one person's taste doesn't necessarily suit another. There are several different views and reviews posted in this section of the forum. My wife and I enjoy the Anantara, other couples seem to gravitate toward the Hyatt, Hilton, Mariott or Sofitel. Much will depend on your budget, but hopefully you will find enough choice. I suggest you search for Isabella's recent trip reports as they also seem to cover several hotels.

A good starting point could be http://www.huahinafterdark.com/forum/vi ... .php?t=732 or http://www.huahinafterdark.com/forum/vi ... .php?t=764

I also suggest you look up http://www.white-sand.com/, if you like a smaller (and lower cost) hotel.

With regard to lunch at beach bars, I'm afraid others may be better placed to advise as I'm afraid that my knowledge of the quality and location of good lunchtime places is pretty poor.

Best regards

Hi, My research so far indicates that the Marriott is good except that the garden is far too small to accomodate the guests.
The downside of the Hilton seems to be that the beach is not so good there and it is more rocky.
The Sofitel appears the best being a short walk to lots of restaurants and the beach is better there....so I'm told. :D Can anyone confirm this?
I have not heard much about the Hyatt...can anyone help with info about the location and beach?
The Evason was also suggested although I would not like to be too isolated. Are there any restaurants nearby so we are not stuck paying hotel prices for meals every night.

Hi Pete,
Thanks for the reply. It is helpful on the Hyatt and Sofitel but the previous forum details hasn't given much information on the Evason and whether there are restaurants around about it or if you have to go up to Hua Hin.
Anyone any knowledge on that?

Me again

Try http://www.huahinafterdark.com/forum/vi ... ght=evason

To get an idea of location of hotels in / around Hua Hin, the map at http://www.thaiwaysmagazine.com/hua_hin ... a_hin.html may be of use. This is not to scale but may, never-the-less, be helpful. There is also a Pran Buri map available from this link (see Evason note below).

My understanding is that the Evason (I've not been there) is at Pran Buri, about 20km South of Hua Hin (see Isabella's comment in the first link above).

Once again - good luck

Peter
